Community provided input and questions for the pool townhall
Suggestions
• Need shade over the pool
• Need bleachers with shade
• Provide a street / overpass / walkway to the park from the pool
• Explore how to heat the water instead of using natural gas
• Needs timers / wiring / scoreboards for meets
• More than one pool is the best option
• Make sure to gather information from older community members
• Make sure it is ADA compliant and is going to meet the needs of the community
• Strongly encourages not to overdue the baby pools because we have the Splash Pad
already
• Explore techniques used to reserve water as it is a current issue.
• Caution anything where water is being thrown in the air
• Make sure to provide ample security to the facility
Questions
• Will an operation plan and maintenance operation cost for each feature be provided?
o Yes, a cost breakdown for cost/maintenance/operation will be provided and
reviewed prior to settling on particular features
• Is this a rebuild of the current Pinney Pool building and pool?
o This is not a rebuild of Pinney Pool, this is a demolition and reconstruction of a
new and larger pool complex
• When do you estimate the pool is complete?
o End of 2024 early 2025 is when we hope to have the first swimmer in the water
• All season pools?
o Some features of the complex will be able to be used year around
• Out of the 410 people who took the survey was there a targeted audience?
o Anyone who was interested in providing input was welcome to take the survey.
It was posted online, talked about in meetings, and provided a lot of really great
feedback on what the community would like to see in a pool facility.
• Will the pool still be a memorial for SGT. John Pinney?. Will we reach out to family to
consult them? Will the family be at the ribbon cutting?
o Yes, the city still plans on providing memorial to SGT. John Pinney and his family
will be invited to the ribbon cutting.
• What is the budget?
o 12-million-dollar budget
Boards and interactive design plans were available for community members to write on, mark
their favorite features, as well as show what they would like the complex to look like.
