We study local senior issues to learn about current programs, define future needs, and reference best practices. We then make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on ways we think the City of Riverside can maintain and improve its status as a Senior-Friendly Community. Speaker cards will be accepted until conclusion of Oral Communications from the Audience. Each member of the public will be given three (3) minutes to speak on any item on the agenda or on any subject matter that is within the Commission's jurisdiction. You will be asked to state your name and city of residence. COMMISSIONER COMMUNICATIONS 2 Brief reports on conferences, seminars, meetings attended by Commission on Aging Members. PRESENTATIONS 3 Chair to call upon Senior Field Representative Luisa Tassan to provide an update on proposed and recent legislation affecting seniors. CONSENT CALENDAR 4 All matters listed under Consent Calendar are considered routine by the Commission on Aging and may be enacted by one motion in the form listed below. There will be no separate discussion of these items unless, before the Commission on Aging votes on the motion to approve the recommendations, Commissioners, staff, or public request specific items to be removed from the Consent Calendar for separate action. Removed consent items will be discussed separately. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 5 Minutes of February 12, 2019 Attachments: Minutes REVIEW OF BOARD ATTENDANCE Commissioners will review the board attendance policy and discuss concerns. DISCUSSION ITEMS 6 Sub-Committee to report on Emergency Preparedness 7 Discussion on Sock Hop event; approval or denial 8 Sub-Committee to report on Advocacy: Information from AARP and the County of San Diego on aging and livability issues. Discussion about funding for such issues and consultation with the City planning department about Riverside's general plan.
