City of Riverside 3900 Main St. Riverside, CA 92522 (951) 826-5557 Commission on Disabilities Agenda Monday, March 3, 2014 5:30 PM 5th Floor Large Conference Room MISSION STATEMENT “The mission of the Commission on Disabilities is to promote greater awareness of, respect for, and the total participation of individuals disabilities into all aspects of life.” State law restricts the Commission on Disabilities from taking action on an item unless it has been included on an agenda and posted at least 72 hours in advance of a meeting or unless the matter falls within one of the narrow exceptions. Consequently, any item not listed on this agenda will normally have to be delayed until the item can be made part of a posted agenda. The City of Riverside wishes to make all of its public meetings accessible to the public. Upon request, this agenda will be made available in appropriate alternative formats to persons with disabilities, as required by Section 202 of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Any person with a disability who requires a modification or accommodation in order to participate in a meeting, should direct such request to the City's ADA Coordinator at (951) 826-5427 or TDD at (951) 826-5439 at least 72 hours before the meeting, if possible. Agenda related writings or documents provided to the Commission on Disabilities are available for public inspection in the General Services Department, 3900 Main Street, Second Floor, and in the binder located inside the 5th Floor Large Conference Room while the meeting is in session. My Play Club Curriculum - Home schools or private schools. d. 2013 Festival of Lights Broadcast Review UPCOMING EVENTS 12 Riverside’s Model Deaf Community Committee (MDCC), third Wednesday of the month, March 15, 2014, at 4:00 pm in the 6 th Floor Large Conference Room. 13 Mayor’s Commission on Aging meets 1:00 p.m. the second Thursday of each month, March 13, 2014, in the Mayor's Ceremonial Room. 14 Inland Empire Disabilities Collaborative meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 9:30am - 11:30am, March 18, 2014, at the Inland Regional Center Conference Center, 1425 So. Waterman, San Bernardino, 92408. 15 Board and Commission Appreciation Event, March 31, 2014, at the Riverside Convention Center from 5 - 7 pm. 16 The 2014 Extravaganza, Ramona High School on April 17, 2014 from 9:30 to 11:30 pm. This Extravaganza is for all RUSD secondary students in the Life Skills program who want to watch or perform in the talent show. Families, community and all COD commissioners are invited to attend this event. 17 A Very Special Night - The Sock Hop, a King High School on May 10, 2014 for students of all abilities in RUSD. This remains a free event. Families, community and all COD commissioners are invited to attend. 18 Mayor’s Night Out, Wednesday, May 7, 2014, Ward 7, 6:30 – 8 pm. Location to be determined.
