MISSION STATEMENT
The City of Riverside’s Human Relations Commission advocates for equal opportunity,
justice, and access in the City to services and opportunities. The Commission fosters
mutual understanding and respect between people, encourages education and outreach
and develops and promotes programs which work to eliminate prejudice and
discrimination.
The City of Riverside wishes to make all of its public meetings accessible to the public.
Upon request, this agenda will be made available in appropriate alternative formats to
persons with disabilities, as required by 42 U.S.C. §12132 of the Americans with
Disabilities Act of 1990. Any person with a disability, who requires a modification or
accommodation in order to participate in a meeting, should direct such request to the
City's ADA Coordinator at (951) 826-5427 or TDD at (951) 826-5439 at least 72 hours
before the meeting, if possible. Sign language interpreter is available upon request.
SELF INTRODUCTIONS
1 PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD - This is an opportunity for members of the public to
address the Commission on any subject matter that is within the Commission’s
jurisdiction. Each member of the public will be given three (3) minutes to speak on
any item on the agenda or on any subject matter that is within the Commission’s
jurisdiction. You will be asked to state your name and city of residence.

PRESENTATIONS
4 <<TENTATIVE>> Receive presentation from the Riverside Fair Housing Council and
Wakeland Housing Development on the proposed Civil Rights Institute and
affordable housing community project on Fairmount and Mission Inn Blvd.
DISCUSSION AND ACTION CALENDAR
5 Commission Annual Planning Session: Commissioners to provide suggestions on
community groups and events to partner with in the upcoming year whose missions
align with that of the Human Relations Commission. From this list, staff to coordinate
speakers to present at monthly Commission meetings.
6 Designate an amount not to exceed $3,000 to support educational curriculum within
the Riverside and Alvord Unified School Districts that aligns with the mission of the
Human Relations Commission. Form adhoc committee to determine processes,
mechanisms and qualifications through which funds can be granted.
7 Commission discussion on the role and purpose of the Human Relations Foundation
and actions commissioners might take to build its capacity

8 Commissioner updates on meetings, conferences, and committees as a
representative of the Riverside Human Relations Commission
