Notes
● Introductions (5 min)
○ Introduction of guests/potential new members if present, David Statman,New
member appointed by CC introduced. Other previously introduced members have
had their approval put on hold by policy changes in CC approval process.
Nancy Gallard and Ellie Mersereau will remain as fully participating, but
non-voting members while CC reconfigures its policies.
○ Recording Secretary selection-Connie Evans
○ Additions to the agenda- None

● Committee Administration (1 min)
○ Nate asked that the committee be notified when the minutes are completed so
they can be reviewed on Google docs prior to the next meeting.
○ Connie noted that it might be preferable to list committee members by name
rather than email address. Nate stated that the email format facilitated sending to
members, but would look for other strategies.
○ There was a question about the ease of public access to agendas and minutes.
Nate will consider best options. He will also send new member flow chart out.
○ CC will vote on COmplete street. Any support would be welcome.
○ CC appreciated our inclusion of HS students on the committee and has
requested all committees to consider this. Jenny will set up a meeting with HS
principal to discuss future student involvement in our committee.
● Updates on RESAC Subcommittees (20 min)
○ Window Dressers (Connie) Rockland build is scheduled for 9/28-10/13/2024 at
Camden American Legion Hall. Todd agreed to transport materials to and from
build site. Several committee members agreed to help during the build. There is a
need for a food coordinator, other major jobs are filled. Final measurer training
will happen this week and measuring will start after that with deadline Sept. 1.
Currently we have over 500 inserts on order with almost 100 rewraps.
○ Harbor Cleanup (Lee) Lee thanks all those involved in the successful Harbor
clean up and reported the over 4,000 pieces of litter were removed from harbor
park. Nate requested more data if possible to establish a baseline.
Recommended: install more trash cans/ butt butlers, “Don't be a litterbug”
campaign. No definitive plan made.
○ Bike to Work Day (Todd & Jenny)
○ Recharge Rockland (Jenny): Fair on 9/14 2024, starting exhibitor outreach, will
include expanded home electrification programs/booths.
● Sustainability Coordinator Update (10 min)
○ Rec’d draft bike plan, implementation will be a goal of 3 street pain treatments.
2nd draft will be presented in June. E bike will be available for borrow at library.
○ Still looking at Rec. Center HVAC.
○ Rockland’s sustainability page on the City website has been revamped. Whole
website undergoing major renovation.
● Annual Goal and Objective Setting - to be finalized by July, the start of next fiscal year
(40 min)
○ Review Comp Plan goals in Context of April Meeting Discussion (Mary Ellen)
Goal is to align our goals with Comp. Plan.
○ Identify any additional goals for FY25 (Discussion):Next month finalize goals for
fiscal year by July 1, 2024
○ Clarify who leads each goal (Discussion)
○ SMART goals (Presentation/Discussion)
■ What is a SMART goal? What is not? Several smart goals have been
submitted and were reviewed.
○ June Meeting: Finalize SMART goals and vote
● Other
○ Susan Beeker of Rockland Tree Board may come to next meeting regarding level
of RESAC interest in tree projects.
○ Nancy G will work with Joshua re; HS garden project similar to Belfast Middle
School.
● Next Meeting and Wrap Up (5 min) Goals assigned:
○ All: finalize and SMART Goals on Google Docs.
○ Nate to offer Google doc. Tutorial
○ Todd to write draft of letter supporting “Complete Streets”
○ Nancy G to work with Joshua re: potential HS garden project.
