Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 10:04 am by Chair Watters.
Approval of Minutes: November minutes were approved by common consent.
Reports:
Rome: Jenkins reported for the city of Rome. He stated the city finished all paving projects for 2019. The
city has submitted the 2020 LMIG application. This grant will cover approximately $480,000 for road
paving and some sidewalk projects. This is a 70-30, state-local match. The city’s 30% match will be in-
kind. He also reported the city will soon be paving the Mt. Berry trail and paving a trail connection from
Cantrell Street to Kingfisher, this should begin in the spring.
Cave Spring: No report.
Floyd County: Skeen reported for the County. He reported the county has submitted the 2020 LMIG
application. This grant will cover approximately 1.2 million of road paving. (approx. 15 miles) The county
is still working on LMIG projects on Horseleg Creek Rd. and Broad St. He also reported the county will
start work again in the spring on the 2013 infrastructure project in Lindale and Riverside neighborhoods.
This will update sidewalks to meet ADA compliance. Booger Hollow Bridge is still closed for a
replacement project. Detours have been posted in the meantime. The train viewing station (SPLOST
project) is still underway in Lindale. The project is pending completion of railing and sidewalks. Skeen
also reported, per Cave Spring’s request, Davis Road improvements have been added to the work
schedule for next year.
MPO:
1. Metropolitan Transportation Update - Schaaf reported for the MPO. Schaaf stated 2015
socioeconomic data was submitted to GDOT. GDOT is now analyzing the data for the
upcoming MTP project lists.
2. Adoption of 2020 Safety Targets – Schaaf reported that the technical coordinating
committee recommended adoption of the 2020 Safety Targets. Schaaf requested a
motion and second to officially adopted the measures. Stevenson made a motion to
adopt. Wallace seconded the motion. Motion carried.
RTD: Shealy reported for RTD. She encouraged the committee members to attend the TDP special
meeting coming up on January 22nd. This meeting is intended for all transportation committee members
(CAC, TCC, TPC) to share opinions and their vision for RTD.
GDOT: GDOT reported they are attending a meeting tomorrow to further address the Booger Hollow
Road project. The bridge is still closed but the replacement project is underway.
FHWA: No report from FHWA.
Other Business: McCord reported that the Redmond Trail overhead protection shades are in the works.
The County is meeting with CSX soon about acquiring the rail bed for trail usage.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:28 AM.
The next meeting will be 18 March 2020 at 10:00 am in the Carnegie Training Room.
