The approval of the minutes from the last Board meeting (9-18-2012) were

motion. Everyone voted in favor.
No Public Participation on Agenda Items.
Under the Sexton’s Report, Mr. Kirk reported there were 26 funerals in
September, and 16 as of today’s meeting and by Friday October 19th we would have 22.
The next item, the gate closing signage. Ruben Esquivel, Cemetery Supervisor, spoke
with the City’s sign shop again and they determined they could make a 4 X 4 sign which
would state the east gate would be permanently closed January 1, 2013. A second sign
would be placed on the east gate stating to use the west gate to enter and exit the
cemetery. Also a sign would be made for the west gate closure times. The signs for
permanent closure were made shortly after last month’s meeting and placed at both gates.
The entrance/exit signs and the west gate closing times were also done and will be placed
when we leave for the New Year’s holiday.
Under Old Business, Mrs. Doerhoefer presented the Cemetery Tour schedule.
At 5:30 PM, Friday, October 19th a dress rehearsal, 4 PM, 4:30 PM, 5 PM, 5:30 PM and 6
PM on Saturday for the public tours. The 6:30 PM tour was cancelled due to darkness.
It’s going to be a great event, but the tours are filling up quickly.
Senator Jennings made a few comments. He was pleased with the work the
cemetery staff has been doing on the grounds. He was proud to see a veteran’s area for
our local veterans but the already established cemetery was needing attention. New trees
were very much needed for the west side as well as roads. He stated to the Sexton there
were some trees in the older sections that needed attention. Mr. Kirk said he would see to
it. He also stated his opposition to the east gate closure. He felt the cemetery should have
another gate coming in from the south. Ms. Chance asked Ms. Morrison to place these
comments into the minutes.
Ms. Chance advised the Board, the next scheduled meeting date would be
November 20, 2012 at 4 P.M. Discussion was held on the meeting dates for November
and December. As these meeting dates are so close to the Thanksgiving and Christmas
holidays, Mrs. Doerhoefer made a motion to vacate both meetings, but if something came
up that needed attention, the President could call a meeting. Mr. Stapp seconded the
motion. Everyone voted in favor.
There being no further business to come before the Board, Mr. Stapp made a
motion to adjourn. Mrs. Rose seconded the motion. The Board adjourned at 5 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
R. Myrline Chance
President
