Minutes of the Cemetery Board Meeting Tuesday, May 16, 2017 REGULAR MEETING 4:00 P.M Committee Member Present: Jim Bloodhart, Vice President Jake Trujillo, Member Gabriel Casaus, Member Jeremy Hurley, Member Committee Members Absent: Jack Ferguson, President Staff Present: Tim Williams, Parks and Recreation Director Ruben Esquivel, Cemetery Superintendent Daisy Diaz, Cemetery Administrative Assistant Others Present: Jimmy Montoya, American Legion Frank Sosa, American Legion Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 4:01 p.m. by Vice President, Jim Bloodhart. Committee members Trujillo, Hurley, and Casaus were present. Approval of Agenda Mr. Trujillo moved to approve the agenda as presented. Mr. Casaus was the second. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion carried, the May 16, 2017 agenda was approved. Approval of Minutes No quorum was present to approve March minutes approval will be postponed to next meeting. Action Items None Non-Action Items 2. Welcome New Board Members- Vice President Jim Bloodhart welcomed new board members Gabriel Casaus (Lagrone Funeral Home), and Jeremy Hurley (Anderson Bethany Funeral Home). 3. Memorial Day Celebration- Jimmy Montoya with American Legion announced the events for Memorial Day. Post commander will declare May 26 National Poppy Day. On Saturday May 27 about 3000 flags will be placed starting at 8 a.m. On Monday May 29 ceremony will be starting at 10 a.m. at the General Douglas McBride Veteran’s Cemetery meeting up at the Pioneer Plaza at 9 a.m. Flags will be picked up at 5 p.m. on Monday. Flag retirement ceremony will be held at the Post American Legion on June 10, 2017 at 10 a.m. 4. Sexton’s Report- Superintendent Ruben Esquivel reported 40 burials for the month of March, 32 burials for April, and 17 as of May 16, 2017. 5. Bookkeeper’s Report- Cemetery Administrative Assistant Daisy Diaz reported 1 lot pay off, 1 lot sale, and 5 new contracts for March. 4 lot pay offs, and 1 new contract for April. As of May 16, 2017 1 pay off, and 1 property transfer. 6. Decoration Policy- Two signs stating the rules will be placed on the fence at the entrance of the General Douglas McBride Veteran’s Cemetery on the East and West side of the fence. The signs will be about poster size with a white background and blue lettering. Regular cleanup will continue to be conducted on the 1st Monday of every month leaving only a temporary marker if no permanent headstone or marker is available. All items will be disposed of once picked up.
