Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m. by President, Jack Ferguson. Committee members Trujillo,
Bloodhart, and Hurley
Approval of Agenda
Mr. Trujillo moved to approve the agenda as presented. Mr. Bloodhart was the second. A voice vote was
unanimous and the motion carried, the January 23, 2018 agenda was approved.
Approval of Minutes
Mr. Trujillo made a motion, seconded by Mr. Bloodhart, to approve the minutes of the October 17, 2017
meeting. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion carried.

Non-Action Items
2. Sexton’s Report-
Superintendent Ruben Esquivel reported a 24 burials for October, 21 burials for November, and 29
burials for December. Total burials for 2017 was 387 that includes burials at South Park Cemetery and
General Douglas McBride Veteran’s Cemetery.
3. Bookkeeper’s Report-
Cemetery Administrative Assistant Daisy Diaz reported for October 1 pay off, for November 2 lot sales,
and 1 new contract, for December 1 transfer, 1 pay off, and 1 lot sale. Total revenue for the year
$413,814.90.
4. Columbarium Update-
Jim Burress stated he wishes to start looking into the columbarium proposal for South Park Cemetery
one step at a time. Starting with bringing in a company of landscape architects that will do a
presentation on projects they have accomplished, and get an input on what the board likes in order to
move on to the next step wish would be putting numbers together to present to the finance
department.
5. Presentation Columbarium Design-
Dennis Wilkinson Principal Landscape Architect, and Robert Loftis Associate Landscape Architect with
MRWM Landscape Architects in Albuquerque, NM presented the board with designs and examples of
the work the company has done. MRWM is the largest full service landscape architecture firm in New
Mexico. Completing over 4,000 projects with numerous projects done at National, State, and local
cemetery sites. MRWM has much experience working on all aspects of cemetery design including
master planning, grading and drainage design, crypt layout and detailing, columbarium layout and
detailing, irrigation design and memorial design.
6. Vault Price Increase-
Ruben Esquivel reported that the vault prices have increased to $363. Would like to change the rules
and regulation wording to meet the price changes as they occur in the future. In order for any changes
to take place must start by presenting changes to the General Service Committee. Present ideas for
change to City Attorney and move on to the next step to get the appropriate changes done.
7. Cemetery Tour-
Nancy Williams with the Kids Art Programs (KAPS) announced the programs interest to have a cemetery
tour on Saturday March 10, 2018. A few changes will be done this year which include a sponsor program
that will involve obtaining sponsors for each visiting site also the tour will be a little bit smaller and more
dedicated towards the center of the cemetery. Exact time of tour will be presented as date approaches.
Motion was made by Mr. Trujillo to allow cemetery tour to take place on Saturday March 10, 2018. Mr.
Bloodhart was second. A voice vote was unanimous and motion carried.
Other Business
Mr. Trujillo commented that two members of the Roswell Veterans Honor Guard about having a
portable toilet near the General Douglas McBride Veteran’s Cemetery. Ruben Esquivel stated he would
talk to Mr. Burress about the idea.
