MINUTES OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION August 15, 2016 REGULAR MEETING 6:00 PM. Call to Order Chair Bob Edwards, called the August 15, 2016 meeting to order at 6:01 pm. The following were present: Members: Chair, Bob Edwards, Vice-Chair Mandy Owens, James Edwards, Roy Gunn, JaneAnn Oldrup, and Peggy Brewer. Staff present: Tim Williams, Director of Parks and Recreation, Lisa Rosales, Administrative Assistant, and Elaine Mayfield APPROVAL OF AGENDA JaneAnn Oldrup made a motion, seconded by James Edwards, to approve the agenda as presented. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion passed, the August 15, 2016 agenda was approved. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mandy Owens made a motion, seconded by James Edwards, to approve the minutes of the May 16, 2016 meeting. A voice vote was unanimous and the June 20, 2016 minutes were approved. REGULAR ITEMS (ACTION) 2. Recommend Nancy Lopez Golf Course at Spring River RFP Contract- Tim Williams Mr. Williams stated the department conducted 5 interviews with Hcb Enterprise, Crae Fields, Oliphant Haltom Golf, LLC, Kemper Sports, and Landscape Unlimited. NON-ACTION ITEMS 3. Update on Grant information request- Elaine Mayfield Elaine Mayfield gave a report on past and current grants that the department has applied for. No comments were stated. 4. Directors Report- Tim Williams Mr. Williams stated the Golf Course had nematodes that were destroying the greens, however they are now gone. The Driving range signs at the golf course have been replaced. Friends at the Zoo held their annual banquet and all went well. The Veterans Cemetery was donated a retired Huey Helicopter and the department is working with Bob Woolley to get the project completed. The Recreation division is getting ready for youth volleyball and youth basketball. The youth camps were successful. The Parks department is replacing some irrigation. Horace Reese was promoted to Parks II worker. The splash pad hours have been reduced to Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 7 pm as well as a Wet Wednesday from 2 to 7. 5. Discuss Annual Youth Organization Meeting- Tim Williams In the Fall Mr. Williams would like to hold an annual meeting. James Edwards suggested not to do have annual meetings with the leagues.
