MINUTES OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION October 17, 2016 REGULAR MEETING 6:00 PM. Call to Order Chair Bob Edwards, called the October 17, 2016 meeting to order at 6:01 pm. The following were present: Members: Chair, Bob Edwards, Vice-Chair Mandy Owens, James Edwards, Barry Mathison, JaneAnn Oldrup, Roy Gunn, and Peggy Brewer. Staff present: Tim Williams, Director of Parks and Recreation, Elizabeth Stark-Rankins, Director of Administrative Services, Jim Burress, Parks and Grounds Manager, Ruben Esquivel, Cemetery Superintendent, Juanita Jennings, Marketing Director, and Lisa Rosales, Administrative Assistant. Others present: Jacob Roebuck, Jimmie Arches, Jeff Tucker, Joann Palomino, and Freddy Palomino. APPROVAL OF AGENDA JaneAnn Oldrup made a motion, seconded by Roy Gunn, to approve the agenda as presented. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion passed, the October 17, 2017 agenda was approved. APPROVAL OF MINUTES JaneAnn Oldrup made a motion, seconded by Roy Gunn, to approve the minutes of the September 19, 2016 meeting. A voice vote was unanimous and the September 19, 2016 minutes were approved. ACTION ITEMS 2. Request to move Christmas Railway to the General Service Committee. NON-ACTION ITEMS 3. Introduction of Director of Administrative Services- Elizabeth Stark-Rankins Bob Edwards introduced Elizabeth Stark-Rankins. She stated she is over Parks and Recreation, Finance, Human Resource, It, Museum and the Library departments. Her official title is Director of Administrative Services stated she has an open door policy. 4. Update on Olympic Recognition- Juanita Jennings Juanita Jennings stated she is the Director of Public Affairs which was previously held by Deanna Phillips. She updated that the City of like to present Gerina Mendoza Piller and Nathan Schrimsher a key to the City. Mrs. Jennings will contact Jan Olensinski to coordinate with Mr. Schrimsher. 5. Maze of Life Update- Ruben Esquivel Jim Burress expresses how proud of Ruben he is of him. The department of health asked Jim Burress for his help in doing a presentation realated to life 6.
