Public Safety Committee

Regular Meeting of the Public Safety Committee Held in the Conference Room at City Hall February 22, 2016 Notice of this meeting was given to the public in compliance with Sections 10-15-1 through 10- 15-4 NMSA 1978 and Resolution 15-56. ROLL CALL The meeting convened at 3:10 p.m. with Chair Denny presiding and Councilors Sanchez and Velasquez present with Councilor Sandoval being absent. Staff present: Mike Mathews, Devin Graham, Phil Smith, Brad McFadin and Karen Sanders. APPROVAL OF AGENDA and MINUTES Councilor Sanchez moved to approve the February 22, 2016 regular Public Safety Committee Meeting Agenda as presented and the Minutes from the January 25, 2016 Public Safety meeting. Councilor Velasquez was the second. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion passed with Councilor Sandoval being absent. REGULAR ITEMS None NON-ACTION ITEMS Police Department Report Chief Smith discussed the Police Department Report and informed which individuals receive the report each month. Fire Department Report Chief Graham gave an update on the Fire Department stating the department is currently 17 short on shift. Also discussed were the new uniforms for shift personnel. Code Enforcement Report Mike Mathews discussed the monthly report for Code Enforcement. Also discussed was the working relationship between Code Enforcement and the Police Department. Both departments have been working well together to address problem locations in the city. Emergency Management Report Karen Sanders gave an update on the winter storm and the process of applying for reimbursement. Also discussed was an upcoming training class on severe weather training by the National Weather Service. Dates and times will be in the next Friday Report. This training is free of charge and open to the public. ADJOURN The meeting adjourned at 3:41 p.m.
