Meeting Minutes
Monday February 27, 2012 @ 4:00 p.m.
Bassett Auditorium
MEMBERS PRESENT: Jimi Gadzia, Joyce Tucker, Melinda Gonzalez, Ivan Hall, Fatima Barnes, Richard Cibak, Bob Phillips,
Tom Tutor, and Carolyn Sidd.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Elly Mulkey, and Mike Pemberton.
OTHERS PRESENT: Laurie Rufe, Caroline Brooks, Stacye Hunter, Jessica Thompson, and Barbara Patterson.
CALL TO ORDER: 4:10pm
PRESIDENT’S REMARKS: Jimi Gadzia, President.
Thank you to everyone who helped with Soup N’ Bowl, it was a great event.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Jimi Gadzia asked the board members if they had had a chance to read the minutes from January 30,
2011. Minutes were approved. Bob Phillips moved to accept the minutes, Richard Cibak seconded: all
were in favor and the motion carried without dissent.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Deborah Melancon, Bookkeeper. (Report given by Laurie Rufe)
Inclusion of 2012 Budget and Fiscal Year to date expenses.
All accounts are looking pretty good at reaching goals, we have only had to make a few minor
adjustments in moving money around.
MEMBERSHIP REPORTS: Jessica Thompson, Membership Coordinator.
Inclusion of January membership and visitors report.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
EDUCATION COMMITTEE: None.
ACQUISITIONS COMMITTEE: None.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE: None.
DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Laurie Rufe, Executive Director.
Film Series Recap: Mother of Mine drew 81 people, Agatha and the Storm drew 72 people, and
Rabbit Proof Fence drew 83 people. These are record-breaking attendance figures for the film
series. February Second Saturday drew 26 students. The five-part reading and discussion series
focused on the Civil War drew 18 people on Sunday for the first discussion. New Employees: After
interviewing three applicants for the Registrar position, we have offered the job to former intern
Kenna Arganbright, Kenna has accepted and will begin June 15 th, 2012. Gang Vandalism: On the
nights of February 14th and 15th the museum had two front windows and one front door shot, and
was also tagged. Jacob Bejarano, 19 was caught on the security cameras and arrested on the 19 th,
damage was around $700.
Upcoming Programs:
a.) Corwin Levi, RAiR, opens his exhibit “Shiine” on Friday March 2.
b.) Author and award-winning landscape designer Judith Phillips will present a lecture on planting
the native garden, Saturday, March 17, 2pm.

c.) Santa Fe print collector Bob Bell will again present a fascinating, intimate discussion on aspects
of his notable print collection, Friday, March 30 at 1:30pm.
d.) Sarah Bostwick, RAiR fellow, opens her exhibit on Friday, April 20.
e.) Our second annual Slow Art Day takes place on April 27, 11am-1pm, bring your own lunch or
order from Tinnie.
f.) RMACF is planning its Kentucky Derby Party for the 138th “Run for the Roses” on Saturday, May
5. Tickets are $50. Volunteers to assist on the day of the event are being solicited. Last year the
event brought in around $30,000. We will be requesting to close the museum at 2pm (the time
the party starts) to the public, a request will be sent in to Larry Alsup.
NEW BUSINESS: Action on Loan: The NM Museum of Art in Santa Fe has requested a loan on of Robert Goddard’s
combustion chamber, nozzle, and jacket for their upcoming exhibit “It’s about time; 14,000 years of
NM art.” The items are currently on display in the Goddard Workshop (tied to the wall); the items will
be on display in Santa Fe from May 2012-January 2014. Laurie Rufe requested board approval on
the loan request: Bob Phillips moved to accept the request, Carolyn Sidd seconded: all were in favor
and the motion carried without dissent.

BOT Meeting adjourned: Jimi Gadzia moved to adjourn the meeting at 4:30 p.m.
