MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES Monday, June 15, 2015 REGULAR MEETING AT 4:00p.m. CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Joyce Tucker at 4:01 p.m. ROLL CALL Olga McGuire, membership, opened with roll call, those present: Tom Tutor, Rey Berrones, Lorie Mitteer and Miranda Howe, Peggy Krantz, Melinda Gonzalez, De Angela Velasquez, and Bill Siders a quorum was established. Staff Coordinator: Michael Hall, Museum Director Staff present: Olga McGuire, Membership, Sara Woodbury Curator of Exhibits, and Deborah Melancon, Bookkeeper Members absent: Sashua Patton, Jamie Barnes PRESIDENT’S REMARKS 1. Chair Joyce Tucker opened by greeting all present, and acknowledging Cindy Torrez, RMAC foundation Executive Director. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: None APPROVAL OF AGENDA 2. Member Lorie Mitteer, motioned to approve the agenda as presented. Member Peggy Krantz was the second. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion passed. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3. Member De Angela Velasquez, motioned to approve the minutes of the May 18, 2015 meeting. Member Rey Berrones was the second. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion passed. FINANCIAL REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF June 2015 4. Deborah Melancon read report for June 2015 MEMBERSHIP AND ATTENDANCE REPORTS FOR THE MONTH OF June 5. Olga McGuire Membership: reported with copy of attendance recorded at 3624 total visitors to include classes, planetarium, meetings, and tours with attached excel spread sheet. Membership revenue report total for the month of May. Second attempt letters for January, February, March, and April recovery of $3180 in past dues. Event: UFO Festival, Alien Costume Contest, Saturday July 4, 2015, beginning with Pet Costume Contest at 10:00 a.m. and Humans at 3:00p.m. At the Visitors Center. DIRECTORS REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF May 2015 Presented by Michael Hall with a printed copy to all members, including reports from Curator of Education and Curator of Collections and Exhibits. OLD BUSINESS 6. Chair Joyce Tucker asked Michael Hall for update on Planetarium. Michael Hall stated that Bill Siders will be available to have presentation for UFO festival. A discussion with RMAC Foundation members was set up for funding of Planetarium equipment. Michael Hall presented hand out regarding Planetarium Director Job description. NEW BUSINESS 7. Chair Tucker advised board members of her attendance at the City Council meeting, Thursday, June 11, 2015. Chair Tucker stated she invited to meeting by Council member Henderson but was not able to present letter of recommendation of the city’s proposal to reduce the Board of Trustees from eleven members to seven. Chair Tucker states she was asked to return to next Council meeting on July 9, 2015. Chair Tucker invited Board members to attend the meeting. NON-ACTION ITEMS: None ADJOURN Member Rey Berrones motioned to adjourn. Member Miranda Howe was the second. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion passed.
