ROSWELL PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING 4:00 p.m. April 25, 2013 Bondurant Room MEMBERS PRESENT: Marna Hunt, Magil Duran, Judy Armstrong, Linda Madrid, and Edward David MEMBERS ABSENT: Elizabeth Shamas, Patti Bristol OTHERS PRESENT: Savino Sanchez, City Council Library Liaison; Barbara Patterson, City Attorney; Amanda Davis, Reference Librarian; and Kay Carrasco, Recording Secretary CALL TO ORDER: Marna Hunt, President, called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. Members present noted. A quorum was present. MINUTES: Ms. Hunt asked if there were any corrections or additions to the minutes of the March 28, 2013 meeting. There were none. Mr. Duran then moved to approve the minutes as presented, seconded by Mr. David, and the motion passed. DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Director Betty Long was absent, so Amanda Davis presented her written report; in addition, she addressed one other matter: The Library has been chosen the recipient of the Keep Roswell Beautiful Award for the month of May. This is in tribute to the care and attention shown in keeping our grounds and building in excellent condition. There will be a presentation ceremony on Tuesday, April 30th at 2:30pm and all Board members and friends are invited to attend. NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE: Ms. Hunt called for volunteers to serve on the Nominating Committee for choosing officers to serve for one year. Mr. Duran volunteered. Ms. Hunt appointed Ms. Bristol. Election of officers will be held at the May meeting. REVIEW OF POLICIES: Due to Ms. Long’s absence, there were no policies discussed this month. OTHER BUSINESS: Ms. Patterson reminded the board members that the City staff is always available to answer questions or to assist in any capacity. Ms. Davis was asked about upcoming programs at the library and she mentioned that author/speaker Dewey Johnson would be here in July, giving a talk. He is always a popular speaker; his talk on the Harvey organization last summer was one of the best attended last year. Ms. Armstrong mentioned that the Friends of the Library are bringing in a speaker September 13-14, Mr. Harry Rinker, host of “Whatcha Got,” a nationally syndicated radio program on antiques and collectibles. This will be a ticketed event. ADJOURN- MENT: The meeting was adjourned by Ms. Hunt at 4:22pm. NEXT MEETING: May 23, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. in the Bondurant Room.
