ROSWELL PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING 4:00 p.m. April 1, 2014 Bondurant Room MEMBERS PRESENT: Marna Hunt, Linda Madrid, Judy Armstrong (by telephone), Elizabeth Shamas, Patti Bristol, and Magil Duran MEMBERS ABSENT: Ed David OTHERS PRESENT: Betty Long, Library Director, Jeanine Corn Best, City Council Liaison, and Kay Carrasco, Recording Secretary. CALL TO ORDER: Marna Hunt, President, called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m. Members present were noted, proper quorum was met. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR NEW BOARD MEMBERS: Patti Bristol expressed her willingness to accept appointment to a full term on the Board, following her completion of an unfinished term. Elizabeth Shamas moved the recommendation, Magil Duran seconded, and the motion passed. There being two vacancies for full terms on the Board, the following names were brought for consideration: Abie Smith, Christy Mills, LeNora Correia, Randy “Lewie” Montgomery, Janet Macaluso, Laura Murphy, Susan Murphy, Sara Triana Mitchell, Gary Hartwick, Guyla Maples, and Michelle Hembree. Discussion ensued. Ms. Bristol moved to recommend Randy “Lewie” Montgomery, Dr. Armstrong seconded, and the motion passed. Ms. Madrid moved to recommend Michelle Hembree, Ms. Bristol seconded, and the motion passed.  Mr. Duran moved to recommend Sara Triana Mitchell, Ms. Madrid seconded, and the motion passed. There being three recommendations for two open positions, the Board decided to provide a ranking of their choices. That ranking was: (1) Randy “Lewie” Montgomery, (2) Michelle Hembree, and (3) Sara Triana Mitchell. Ms. Best, as Council liaison, will take the recommendations to the Mayor.
