Roswell Public Library Board of Trustees Held at the Roswell Public Library Bondurant Room Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. Notice of this meeting was given to the public in compliance with Sections 10- 15-1 through 10-15-4 NMSA 1978 and Resolution 17-49 The meeting convened with Vice-President Michelle Hembree presiding and Patti Bristol, Linda Madrid, Lewie Montgomery, Alyssa Rogers and Angela Moore, and Enid Costley, Library Director, being present. Magil Duran and Judy Armstrong being absent. Ms. Michelle Hembree called for the approval of the agenda for the March 22, 2018 Roswell Public Library Board meeting to include: the minutes (January 25 2018 and February 22, 2018 meetings), regular items as follows, (Library Director’s report), informational items as follows (status of Roswell Public Library Board Terms and Applications, status of the Security Project, status on the Update Format of the Library flyer and Library hours.) Mr. Montgomery moved, Ms. Madrid seconded. A voice vote was unanimous, and the motion passed with Michelle Hembree, Pattie Bristol, Linda Madrid and Lewie Montgomery present and Alyssa Rogers, Magil Duran and Judy Armstrong and Councilor Angela Moore absent. Ms. Hembree called for approval of the minutes of the January 25, 2018 meeting as presented. Mr. Montgomery moved, Ms. Madrid seconded. A voice votes was unanimous and the motion passed with Michelle Hembree, Pattie Bristol, Linda Madrid, Lewie Montgomery and Alyssa Rogers present, Magil Duran and Judy Armstrong and Councilor Angela Moore absent. Regular Items Library Director’s Report In addition to the written report covering February the Library Director gave the following updates:  E-rate application was submitted and certified before the March 22, 2018 deadline. The application provides the Library with 90% discount on internet service and 85% discount on equipment. The equipment will allow for redundancy in equipment to prevent a disruption on service due to equipment failure.  Additional shelving for the children’s area has arrived and more shelving to replace the metal spinner racks has been ordered. No action was taken Informational Items Status of Roswell Public Library Terms and Application Forms The following members have completed their terms on the Library Board and may reapply for another 4 year term: Michelle Hembree, Pattie Bristol, and Lewie Montgomery. Ms. Hembree read aloud the resignation letter of Magil Duran, Library Board President. Applications are being accepted and are available through the City of Roswell website. At the next Library Board meeting members may review applications and make recommendations to Mayor Kintigh, who will recommend members to the Library Board to the City Council at the next City Council meeting. Ms. Hembree stated she will not be reapplying at the end of her term. Status of Security Project Ms. Costley reported that new doors with crash bars have been installed in the technical service area at the recommendation of the City Fire Marshal. The security updates will be completed by J&G Electric. Status on Update Format of Library Flyer Nathan Burden is designing a monthly flyer for the Library as we are doing more programing. The full color one fold flyer on 11x17” paper does reduce nicely into an 8.5 x11” handout. Library Hours The Library is conducting a survey on new Library Hours. The Library is currently open 64 hours. With the proposed hours, the Library would remain open 64 hours, but the biggest impact will be that we will be open past 6:00 p.m. more nights. The proposed hours are 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Public Comment Councilor Moore was welcome by members of the Roswell Public Library Board and all shared a bit about themselves.
