Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:06pm. 2. Attendance Present: Georgia Hurchalla, Robin Winter, Ted Page, Judy Davids, Lexi Andre, Student Rep. Leilani Hamilton Absent: Kyle VanDeventer, Shelly Szuba, Monica Hunt, ROPD Liaison – Officer Andre Steineke 3. New Business Judy Davids has community engagement meeting tomorrow regarding 11 Mile re-do, will keep us updated. 10. Event Planning a. DPS Presentation – April 14 Judy Davids is meeting with DPS to prepare slide deck for presentation. Georgia Hurchalla will reach out to Kyle VanDeventer related to promoting the event, per previous interest. Hamer Finch Wilkins has pollinator gardens that need to be thinned out. Judy Davids proposed partnering with Garden Club to teach people how to divide perennials and invite people to take them from the park. Will meet with Garden Club tomorrow and plan to announce event at DPS presentation April 14. Judy Davids will book our usual meeting room for post-meeting DPS presentation 7pm-8pm. b. Oakland County Prosecutor & Police Hot Topics – May 12 Judy Davids reserved room at Senior Center 6pm-8pm. Will plan to start at 6:30pm. Re: streaming options, we would have to stream via a phone and tripod to Facebook or YouTube. Senior Center does not have audio/visual streaming equipment. City Chambers does. May be too much trouble to stream. Need to confirm topic of presentation with Monica Hunt, put together flier. c. Block Party & Resource Fair – June 2 Four-town gas pipeline project is beginning this summer. Consumer’s Energy wants to use part of Normandy Oaks parking lot to stage their project, during Block Party. One option is to move block party back to Farmers Market, which is still available. Alternative option is to ask Consumers Energy to sponsor and/or participate in Block Party, answer community questions about their project. Page 3 of 4  There should still be plenty of space at Normandy Oaks for fire trucks and community parking. Judy Davids will reach out to Consumers’ community engagement. Other notes: City does not allow bounce houses on the grass. We will not be able to have food trucks without a special event permit, which we are unlikely to secure in time for the event. d. Juneteenth Juneteenth sub-committee is meeting tomorrow at Farmers Market at 4:00. Reviewing Black History display. e. Fall Events Ideas: • The 5th Avenue project is supposed to be completed in time for Arts Beats & Eats. We could host something there. • Partnering with police on Spooktacular • Fire fighter open house second Saturday of October • Melanie Macey mentioned former DPS trick-or-treating event at Normandy Oaks. Used to be very well attended, included local clubs and outdoor movie Georgia Hurchalla likely to be unavailable in October. 11. Adjournment Meeting adjourned 6:53pm. Next meeting April 14.
