Paul is working on getting an update from Dave Woodward regarding the South Oakland County Transit Authority. 5.c Staff Liaison Update Paul gave a presentation and led discussion on Roberts rules of order. Aging in Place Plan 3.a Discussion 3.a.1 Ordinance A copy of the Ordinance was attached to the Agenda packet. 1 Page 4 of 7  3.a.2 By Laws A copy of the By Laws was attached to the Agenda packet. 3.a.3 Aging in Place Plan Yolanda discussed the 6 Domains of Livability and the two that the Older Adults Advisory Board was focused on was Transportation and Communication. 3.b Priorities The board discussed focusing on some new ideas to better communicate with residents. The board discussed having Robert's Rules distributed to all board members to help guide the flow of all future meetings in order to increase efficiency and productivity of the meetings. 4. Resolution Number: Motion to adjourn Moved by: Susan Giasson Gilbert Seconded by: Maureen Elliott 2 Page 5 of 7  Senior Center Updates June 2026 Senior Center Updates: • 2 New drivers started on June 1st, and we are still waiting for the third to go through onboarding. • Royal Oak Rock the Block 2026 was held on May 14th & 15th. 24 Royal Oak senior homes had a Spring clean-up with over 50 volunteers. • Nine Royal Oak Seniors returned from a 10-day trip to Ireland and raved about the wonderful time they had on their tours, activities and the castle that they lodged in. • 20 Seniors went to Mackinaw Island on June 3rd and will return on June 5th. Upcoming Events/Trips: • Coffee & Donuts with the Superintendent of Royal Oak Schools is June 23rd from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. • Taste of Times event is June 26th. 20 Seniors from 4 cities will be traveling to 3 Senior Centers for food and entertainment throughout the day on our SMART buses. Southfield, West Bloomfield, Ferndale and Royal Oak. • Oakland County Town Hall July 23rd. This Town Hall will focus on educating residents about the various issues concerning older residents. Information is also available on Information Technology (IT), Sustainability & Housing Services. New programs: • Senior Pilates on Tuesdays from 12:00 to 1:15 PM • Lunch & Learn – Fraud Awareness, presented by Federal Law Enforcement Agency- FBI Detroit Agents on June 16th at 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Page 6 of 7 REPORT FROM COMMISSION BASTIAN Update from Dave Woodward at Oakland County RE: Transportation Here's where things stand: • Oakland County is behind schedule on approving funding for a study to assess the feasibility of expanding transportation, BUT, it's on the docket for next week's meeting of the relevant board. Approval is expected. • Once approved, the board will decide on either an independent audit or a SMART internal audit of how best to administer a potential expansion of transportation. • Once the audit is complete (hopefully before the end of 2026), results will be provided and a recommendation will be made whether to have SMART run a potential/proposed expansion or if it's better run by a new Transit Authority (akin to NOTA, etc.). • If the proposal for a new authority wins out, then it becomes a "coalition of the willing" situation among communities to become involved with a regional authority- i.e. Royal Oak, Clawson, Ferndale, Berkley, etc. • While no timetable can be committed to, given the fluid nature of the county's plans, Dave suggested that either SMART or a new Transportation Authority could be moving forward with expansion of available services in the first or second quarter of 2027. Given all of this, I think it's best for the OAAB to put a pin in the transportation issue for the time being. As we learn about how things pan out with the county, we can then either encourage the Commission to sign on to a future "coalition" of regional partners and take advantage of expanded programs, or in the alternative, if there's nothing coming from the County level, we can advocate for transportation expansion through the senior center and develop plans to be considered in the 27-28 budget.
