MINUTES PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD Thursday, October 3, 2013 – 7:00 p.m. Mahany/Meininger Senior Center MEMBERS PRESENT: Stan Schaffer, Mike Ripinski, Rob Winter, Mark Ryan, Vince Cassisa, Todd Menig, Bill Staubach, Alex Fike and City Commissioner Fournier ALSO PRESENT: Tod Gazetti, Greg Rassel MEMBERS EXCUSED: None Chairperson Menig called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Ryan, seconded by Ripinski to approve the September 5, 2013 minutes. Motion passed unanimously. City Commission Comments: None Public Comment: None Business: a. War Memorial Update – No update at this time. b. Park improvement Update: 1. Optimist – construction of the new playground structure has been completed. 2. Huntington Woods – construction is ongoing, should be completed by mid-October. The cities maintenance department is constructing both playgrounds. 3. Lockman Tennis Courts – Still waiting on a decision from the U.S.T.A. regarding our grant application to assist us with the re-surfacing of Lockman tennis courts. Courts will be re-surfaced in the spring of 2014. 4. Starr/J.C. Park – New playground structure has been ordered, construction will take place in the spring of 2014. Informational Items: a. City Branding – The city has begun rolling out the new brand; the website has been changed, business cards and letterhead has been ordered. Branding on vehicles and city facilities will begin in December. Items not on the Agenda: None Upcoming Events: Thirty Second Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is Thursday December 5th at the Royal Oak Farmer’s Market, all are invited. Next Meeting – November 7, 2013 @ 7:00 p.m. @ Mahany/Meininger Senior Center Motion by Ryan and seconded by Winter to adjourn at 7:48 p.m. Motion passed unanimously.
