MINUTES PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD Thursday, May 7, 2015 – 7:00 p.m. Mahany-Meininger Senior Center 3500 Marais MEMBERS PRESENT: Jill Robinson, Paul Kanan, Mike Ripinski, Todd Menig, Phil Smith, Mark Ryan, Amanda Klein and Mark Ryan . ALSO PRESENT: Tod Gazetti, Superintendent of Recreation, Greg Rassel, Director of Recreation & Public Service. Barbra Wheeler (Rotary Club) and two other club members Chairperson Menig called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. I. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Ryan, seconded by Ripinski to approve the minutes of January 8, 2015. Motion passed unanimously. II. City Commission Comments: None. III. Public Comment: None IV. Business: a. Rotary Park - The Rotary would like to switch their name to a more active park. Barton, Bassett, Cody and Westwood were discussed. The Rotary will meet with Tod Gazetti and come back with a firm recommendation on what park and the Rotary’s commitment b. Park Sign Project – Review of RFP results was briefed c. Grand Slam Batting Cages – in city attorney’s office d. Normandy Oaks Park – Ripinski updated the committee on the work of the task force. e. Royal Oak Golf contract - Tentatively scheduled for June CC approval. f. Parks update provided by Rassel V. Items not on the agenda: a. Staff will notify board of next Normandy Task Force meeting. b. Judy Davids will try to increase visibility of Park Clean-up day. VI. Upcoming Events: Next Meeting – Dependent on meeting with Rotary @ 7:00 p.m. @ Mahany/Meininger Senior Center Motion by Ripinski and seconded by Kanan to adjourn at 8:15 p.m. Motion passed unanimously.
