MINUTES PARKS, RECREATION AND SENIOR ADVISORY BOARD Thursday, March 3, 2016 – 7:00 p.m. Mahany-Meininger Senior Community Center - 3500 Marais MEMBERS PRESENT: Todd Menig, Amanda Klein, Mark Ryan, Andrea Makar and Jill Robinson ALSO PRESENT: Tod Gazetti, Superintendent of Recreation, Greg Rassel, Director of Rec. & Public Service. MEMBERS EXCUSED: Commissioner Fournier, Matt Harmon, Mike Ripinski and Paul Kanan Meeting called to order at 7:14 p.m. I. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Klein, seconded by Makar to approve the minutes of January 7, 2016. Motion passed unanimously. II. City Commission Comments: Commissioner Fournier was excused for the March meeting. III. Public Comment: NONE IV. Business: a. Royal Oak Golf Center – Motion by Ryan, seconded by Klein to accept the following rate increase on a bucket of range balls: Small Bucket $4.75 to $5.25; Medium Bucket $7.75 to $8.00, Large Bucket $9.75 to $10.00 and the Jumbo Bucket $14.75 to $15.25. Motion passed unanimously. b. The Jordan and Ashley Siegel Foundation – Motion by Ryan and seconded by Robinson to accept staff recommendation to re-name the new picnic pavilion and Memorial Park the Jordan and Ashley Siegel Picnic Pavilion. Acceptance of this motion will be sent to the City Commission for final approval. c. Normandy Oaks Update – The February 25, 2016 meeting for Normandy Oaks between the City of Royal Oak and Oakland County was cancelled and re-scheduled for March 23, 2016 at Royal Oak City Hall in Room 309. d. Flower/Christmas Tree Sales @ Memorial Park – Motion by Ryan, seconded by Klein to accept the vendors offer of $9,000.00 for a 100 by 100 foot space by the city parking lot at Memorial Park on Woodward Avenue from May 1,2016 – July 5, 2016 and September 15, 2016 – October 31, 2016. Motion passed unanimously. e. CIP Parks – Mr. Rassel stated that he has submitted the 2016 Capital Improvement Program the entire plan totaling an estimated $400,000. V. Upcoming Events: Park Clean Up is April 23 and 24; interested groups and organizations can call the DPS @ 248-246-3300 VI. Next Meeting – April 7, 2016 @ 7:00 p.m. @ Mahany-Menninger Community Center Motion by Ryan and seconded by Klein to adjourn at 8:08 p.m. Motion passed unanimously.
