City of Royal Oak Recreation Department 1600 North Campbell Road Royal Oak, MI 48067 248-246-.3180 Minutes Parks, Recreation and Senior Services Advisory Board Thursday January 4, 2018 at 7:00p.m. Mahany/Meninger Senior/Community Center 3500 Marias Avenue Royal Oak, MI 48067 Meeting called to Order 7:06pm. Members Present: Tim Ciechorski, Jill Robinson, Paul Kanan, Camille Thompson, Mike Ripinski, Commissioner Macey Also Present: Tod Gazetti, Superintendent of Recreation, Greg Rassel, Director of Rec. & Public Service, City Planner, Joseph Murphy. Members Absent: Todd Menig, Jeff Plachta, Mark Ryan I. Approval of Minutes: October 5, 2017 – Motion by Robinson, seconded by Kanan to approve the October minutes. Motion passed unanimously. II. City Commission Comments: None III. Public Comment: Mr. Williams reminded the board to please be sensitive to where the soccer fields are located in all the parks when deciding where to place the outdoor fitness equipment. IV. Business: a. 2018 Election of Officers – Motion by Kanan, seconded by Robinson to nominate Mike Ripinski for Chairperson, motion passed unanimously. Motion by Ripinski, seconded by Kanan to nominate Jill Robinson for Vice-Chair. Motion passed unanimously. Motion by Robinson, seconded by Ciechorski to nominate Kanan for Secretary. Motion passed unanimously. b. C.D.B.G. Outdoor Fitness Equipment – Planner Joseph Murphy updated the board on purchasing outdoor fitness equipment for neighborhood parks through the Community Block Grant Funding  Program. Motion by Kanan, seconded by Ciechorski to recommend Barton, Grant and Cody as possible sites for the equipment. c. 2017 Royal Oak Golf, LLC Year End Report – Joe Spadafore submitted his end of the year report as required by the contract between Royal Oak Golf LLC. and the City of Royal Oak. d. Normandy Oaks Update – Mr. Ripinski informed the board that Nowak and Fraus will be submitting two master plans for Normandy Oaks Park in the next few weeks. e. Nature Society Year End Report – The Nature Society submitted their end of the year report to the board for informational purposes. V. Items not on the Agenda: After 17 years of service to the board, Tod Menig’ s last term has expired. Thank you Mr. Menig for your years of service to the board and to the Royal Oak Sandlot Board. VI. Upcoming Events Next Meeting: February 1, 2018 at 7:00p.m. Motion by Kanan, seconded by Robinson to adjourn at 8:37 p.m. Motion passed unanimously.
