CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING 5:00 p.m., September 24, 2013 City Hall 2nd Floor Conference Room Commissioners: City/Department Representatives: Toni Bachman, Chairman, Present Freddie Harris, City Council Liaison, Absent Bert Fleck, Present Trey Smith, City Attorney, Present Garrie Kellam, Present Jeff Humphrey, Police Chief, Present Jim Campbell, Present John Cochran, Fire Chief, Absent Phillip Lea, Present Tracey Cline-Pew, Human Resources, Absent Meeting Minutes Chairman Toni Bachman called the meeting to order at 5:03 p.m. The Commission reviewed the minutes of the August meeting. Jim Campbell made a motion that the minutes be approved with one correction – the date in the heading of the minutes needs to reflect August 27, 2013. Phillip Lea seconded the motion. The minutes were approved. OLD BUSINESS Civil Service Commission • None. Police • A second reading of the proposed changes to the Civil Service Commission Rules and Regulations was conducted. Proposed changes are attached hereto and incorporated herein. • Chief Humphrey discussed the upcoming testing. He proposed using I/O Solutions customized written test and B-Pad assessment tool. Fire Department • Dates for the upcoming entry-level testing for the Fire Department were confirmed. The dates are as follows: October 5, 2013 Tier Test 1 Commissioner Required (Phillip Lea) October 12, 2013 Written Test 1 Commissioner Required (Toni Bachman, Phillip Lea) October 19, 2013 PAT/Oral Interview 3 Commissioners Required (All Commissioners) NEW BUSINESS Civil Service Commission • None. Fire Department • The commission noted the three items that were on the agenda for the Fire Department. They were aware of the voluntary demotion and modification to the training officer position. Police Department • Entry level testing for the Police Department was tentatively set as follows: November 2, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. PAT Testing November 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Written Test November 9, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. Assessment Panel/Oral Interview Phillip Lea made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. Bert Fleck seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
