NEW BUSINESS
Chief Ewing and the Commission reviewed the Police new-hire list. No action taken.
Fire Department discussions with Chief Slone:
o New-hire list was discussed. Chief Slone reported that offers of employment were made
to Michaela Talley and Craig DeFrancisco.
o Wyatt Meyers is voluntarily and temporarily off the list until a doctor declares Meyers fit
for duty.
o Case of Ian Simpson, previous engineer with RFD, was discussed. Simpson resigned
from RFD within last 12 months. It was agreed that if an offer of employment were
made, it would be contingent on a certified letter or email from Simpson, and he could
only be hired in an open position. And if there was no engineer position available,
Simpson would be offered job as firefighter and would go the normal competitive route
for promotion to engineer.
o It was stated that Craig DeFrancisco is first cousin with Battalion Chief Chris Vick. Mayor
Harris is informed and City Policy regarding nepotism is being followed. Vick will not be
supervisor nor participate in future promotional testing of DeFrancisco.
At 5:45 p.m. the meeting adjourned.
