Russellville Oakland Cemetery Commission Minutes August 19, 2014 The Russellville Oakland Cemetery Commission met on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers Conference Room for the regular monthly meeting. Attending: Director Lequitta A. Jones, Chairman / Alderman Garland Steuber, Commissioner / Vice-Chairman John Harris, Commissioner Patricia Petray, Commissioner Anna Fields, Commissioner Rebecca Howell, and Mayor Bill Eaton. Absent: Commissioner Donna Eubanks and Secretary Mindy Hudson. The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m.by Chairman Garland Steuber. The First Order of Business was to approve the minutes from the July 22, 2014 regular meeting. Commissioners accepted as submitted. The Second Order of Business was to review the financial report. Commissioners accepted as submitted. The Third Order of Business Financial Report to include Commissioner Harris’s request for an itemized list of the carryover funds from 2013 profit in the approximate amount of $20,000.00. – Finance Director McKaughan Commissioner Fields made the motion to table until the next meeting. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Petray and passed unanimously. The Fourth Order of Business 4a. A request to discuss the City’s liability of repairing monuments. Garland Steuber, City Attorney Trey Smith. 4b. A request to discuss going through the cemetery and identifying monuments that need to be straightened and repaired. Tabled until the next meeting The Fifth Order of Business was to discuss and review the Permit Application & Requirements for the Oakland Cemetery Boundary Extension. Mayor Eaton explained the procedure to expand the cemetery and what had been sent to the state agencies. Commissioner Harris made the motion to move the packet to the City Council for further study for possible expansion. Commissioner Petray seconded the motion and passed unanimously.
