Regular Council Meeting June 5, 2023 Assistant Mayor Kathy Rupp called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Council members in attendance were Darwin Sietsema, Brian Baartman, and Chris McCurdy. Absent was Stan Townsend. Also in attendance was Chris Burch. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. Minutes of the May meeting were approved by M/Baartman 2/Sietsema/cd. Building Permits for Sallie Orlowsky for siding, windows, doors, shutters, gutters, and foundation work at 731 Smith Avenue; for Curt Baartman for roof replacement and addition of deck at 341 Cleveland Street; for Milton Voss for a 12’ x 20’ deck to back of house at 341 Main Street; and for Troy Baartman for a 30’ x 40’ garage in back at 330 Main Street were approved by M/Sietsema 2/McCurdy/cd unanimously. The May bills were presented and approved by M/Baartman 2/Sietsema/cd. The council discussed and reviewed the proposed 3-year Assessor Contract with Pipestone County. The cost will be $12.00 per parcel for a total of 247 parcels resulting in an expense of $2964.00. A motion to approve and sign the 3- year Assessor Contract with Pipestone County by M/Baartman 2/Sietsema/cd unanimously. Chickens were again a topic of discussion. It was approved allow a maximum of 10 chickens, NO roosters, an annual cot of $10.00 per year and a permit must be posted on the coop by M/Sietsema 2/Baartman/cd unanimously. The city clerk will put together an ordinance and a permit to be reviewed at the next meeting. Chris Burch was here with questions for the council. The council answered her questions. It was discussed and approved for the removal of the City Welcome Sign located on Highway 23 by M/Sietsema 2/Baartman/c unanimously. The location of a new City Welcome Sign will be discussed at a future meeting. The city received two (2) designs for the “Design a Welcome Sign with Logo” contest and will be judged in the next couple of weeks. Resolution 2023-03; Resolution Supporting the Request for State Bonding for Infrastructure Improvements was approved by M/Baartman 2/Sietsema/cd.
