Council Meeting

Regular Council Meeting December 10, 2024 Mayor Stan Townsend called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. In attendance were Darwin Sietsema, Brian Baartman, Chris McCurdy, and Stu Peterson. Also in attendance was Darrin Haroldson. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by those in attendance. Minutes of the November meeting and November 4, 2024 Public Hearing were approved with corrections by M/Sietsema 2/Baartman/cd unanimously. Wastewater Supervisor, Darrin Haroldson read his report for the month of November and answered the council’s questions. The November bills were presented and approved by M/Peterson 2/Sietsema/cd unanimously. Receipts = $19,072.06 Disbursements = $134,888.68 The 2025 preliminary levy of 5% was reviewed and discussed. M/Baartman 2/Peterson/cd unanimously to set the final levy at 5% for 2025. Resolution 2024-10; Cannabis Microbusiness Authority to Pipestone County was discussed and approved by M/Baartman 2/Sietsema/cd unanimously. The city consents to the County of Pipestone for issuing registration of any cannabis microbusiness with a retail operations endorsement, cannabis mezzobusiness with a retail operations endorsement, cannabis retailer, medical cannabis retailer, medical cannabis combination business or lower-potency hemp edible retailer within the jurisdiction of the city of Ruthton. Resolution 2024-11; A Resolution Approving Master Fee Schedule for 2025 was approved by M/Peterson 2/Sietsema/cd unanimously. It was approved to have Meulebroeck, Taubert & Co. to conduct the city’s annual audit for 2024 for $8,600.00 by M/Baartman 2/Sietsema/cd unanimously. It was approved to transfer $15,000.00 to the Fire Fund from the General Fund; and to transfer $2,000.00 to the Cemetery Fund from the General Fund by M/Peterson 2/McCurdy/cd unanimously. A donation was received and accepted for the Cemetery Fund from David Jackson by M/Baartman 2/Sietsema/cd unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m. by M/Sietsema 2/Baartman/cd.
