Traffic island review
Volunteers have been picking up areas including Washington st strip
Container closest to Front St was about to fall into street – Ray came to fix it. Will check if
irrigation was damaged in the spring
Salem so Sweet in February – decorate Washington St buckets with Valentines Day décor.
Could use more volunteers to help maintain islands
Is there a way to have more street sweeping near islands? DPW has a pretty set schedule and
limited resources
Greenscapes does mowing for islands, sometimes volunteers see them out. City could
coordinate their schedule more with our group’s work. Maybe we could make a shared
calendar. Micaela can find out their typical schedule/monthly routine. Brooke will reach out to
Margaret Duffy from SSCW
We need help with more sweeping downtown and maintaining the Washington St strip
Can a rep from this group go to a chamber of commerce meeting?
Mary Ellen could potentially be liaison for garden club
Lisa requested a schedule of BCOMMS work on Traffic Island
High school students have been hired in the summer to help out. Micaela can check with DPW
Brooke mentioned partnering with Creative Collective.
Brooke shared her flier and will email to committee for further review. We discussed where to
put them out including Salem State
Could we set up a google group for committee emails
