City of Salem Traffic and Parking Commission And Bicycling Advisory Committee NOTICE OF SPECIAL JOINT MEETING Wednesday, September 28, 2022 @ 6:00PM Notice is hereby given that a special joint meeting of the Salem Traffic & Parking Commission and Bicycling Advisory Committee will be held on Wednesday, September 28th, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. via remote participation in accordance with a Chapter 107 of the Act of 2022. Every effort will be made to ensure that the public can adequately access the proceedings in real time, via technological means. In the event that we are unable to do so on matters not requiring a public hearing, we will post on the City of Salem’s website an audio or video recording, transcript, or other comprehensive record of proceedings as soon as possible after the meeting. Individuals may participate remotely in the meeting via a remote participation platform called Zoom. ROLL CALL II. PUBLIC COMMENTS (15 min period of no more than 3 min per person*) III. DIRECTOR’S UPDATE IV. NEW/OLD BUSINESS (each item limited to 3 min per person*) a. Washington Street Sidewalk Extension Design – Staff will present plans to extend the sidewalk along the east side of Washington Street from Front Street to Follet Way which include a vertically separated bike lane. The plans were generated by AECOM, and staff are seeking feedback from the Commission, Committee, and public. b. Lafayette Street Traffic Calming and Bicycle Safety Project – Staff will present plans to extend the existing Lafayette Street bicycle lane from Loring Avenue to the Marblehead town line. The plans were generated by Toole Design, and staff are seeking feedback from the Commission, Committee, and public. c. October Parking Overlay Regulations – Commission to discuss request from some City Councilors to prohibit overnight parking unless such vehicles are parking for the purposes of conducting business at the permitted property itself.
