Draft of Minutes of Board of Trustees Meeting of June 18, 2020
Salem, Massachusetts June 18, 2020
A meeting of the Board of Trustees was held via Zoom on this date at 4:06pm at the Library with
Trustees Merry, Morin, Rourke, and Trustee Buckley present and presiding. Miss Mansfield was
present.
Approval of draft minutes from April 23, 2020 UNANIMOUS
Current Library Use and Financial reports were distributed. Miss Mansfield reported that
Overdrive circulation was fourth highest in NOBLE during April and May and that there was a
significant spike in Hoopla usage during April. Miss Mansfield noted that curbside pickup
began on June 15th and 844 physical items had been checked out to date. Fines would continue
to be suspended through 6/23.
A copy of the Library’s FY21 budget was distributed. Miss Mansfield noted that the union staff
would be taking voluntary furloughs to help offset the budget reductions. Full time non-union
staff would also be required to take furloughs of two days or more.
Miss Mansfield reported that the Restoration of the Poseidon Fountain did not receive CPA
funding for FY21 due to more pressing projects. Trustee Morin noted he had reached out to
Jenna Ide and planned to look into engineering firms for the fountain.
Discussion of the Trustee vacancy followed. The Trustees will continue their search.

§20, and the Governor’s March 15, 2020 Order imposing strict limitation on the number of people that may gather in one place,
this meeting of the City of Salem Planning Board will be conducted via remote participation to the greatest extent possible.
Specific information and the general guidelines for remote participation by members of the public and/or parties with a right
and/or requirement to attend this meeting can be found on the city’s website, at www.salem.com. No in-person attendance of
members of the public will be permitted, but every effort will be made to ensure that the public can adequately access the
proceedings in real time, via technological means. In the event that we are unable to do so, despite best efforts, we will post on
the city’s website an audio or video recording, transcript, or other comprehensive record of proceedings as soon as possible
after the meeting.
