Status of New Fountains for Fountain & Sargent Pond
Shawn has been working with New England Civil Engineering on the water in the cemetery in general.
The pipe that discharges into Fountain Pond has a sewer line tied into it. Somewhere on Appleton Street a
sewer line is tied into a catch basin and has been camera’d. At Sargent St and Liberty Hill Av there are catch
basins from the golf course which are discharging into Sargent Pond which include fertilizer used at the
course. Again, this has been camera’d.
The Conservation Committee has never approved fountains in the ponds. If we are going to continue with
fountains we need to have approval from the Conversation Commission. Shawn is looking into using natural
plants to control algea. He is going to forward a RFQ letter to the Commission.
Shawn will leave the application from the Conservation Commission as well as the RFQ letter in Kelly’s office
for Mary Anne to pick up, create a pdf file and send to all Commission members.
No Fishing Ordinance Sign for Greenlawn Cemetery
Shawn is working with LeBel to create 3 No Fishing Signs for Greenlawn. Shawn will email cost estimate for
signs to me.
Status of Searchable Program for the Public
IT needs to contact Boston Scanning to upload the documents. Kelly will do regular updates.
Security Cameras
One camera is inside Greenlawn Cemetery and the City of Salem has 2 on Sargeant St.
Broad Street has a definite need for them.
Charter Street also may need them. Mary Anne will contact Erin Schaffer for her availability to attend
an upcoming meeting to review the Charter Street Cemetery Plans.
Tree Maps
Tabled for now. Rich Stafford and Chris Burke can update it. Google “greenlawn cemetery tree map”
to access.
Review Cemetery Rules, Regulations and Policies to Update
Tabled and will plan to have a meeting devoted to this in the future.
