Neighborhood Improvement Advisory Council - Meeting Minutes Wednesday, February 10, 2021, 7:00 P.M. Called to Order: 7:04 p.m. Members Present: Barbara Mann, Anne Sterling, Dennis Colbert, Christy Evans, Marlene Faust, Lucy Corchado, Denise Regan, Flora Tonthat, Richard Lindeman, Nina Cohen, Dennis Maroney Staff Present: Dominick Pangallo (Office of Mayor Driscoll) Approval of January 13, 2021 minutes: Approved Guest Speaker: David Greenbaum (Salem Health Agent) provided an update on the City’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts. He took questions from the members on the following topics:  What can be done to speed up the vaccination process?  Is the state hitting its benchmarks for vaccination?  When will the state open up the new group (65+ and those with certain medical conditions) for vaccinations?  Is Salem seeing cases from in-school attendance? How risky are schools?  The library is quarantining books returned to them. Should we be quarantining items coming into our house like mail and groceries?  Is there a risk of transmission from the air at indoor swimming pools?  Can you mix the brands of vaccine between your first and second shot?  Can you get the vaccine if you’ve had COVID?  Is the City paying for Cataldo to operate the vaccine clinic at SSU?  Is there any cost to getting the vaccine?  What happens with unused vaccine doses at the end of a clinic?  Is the Community Health Center in the Point providing vaccines?  Is it possible to cancel a vaccine appointment?  What phone number should someone call if they need assistance making a vaccine appointment?  How much longer will the “Stop the Spread” testing go on?  Is the City notifying residents when new cohorts become eligible for the vaccine?  Is the City sharing data on local vaccination numbers?  How does someone schedule their second shot?  What’s the status of the COVID variants in Massachusetts?  How is the City using the wastewater surveillance testing?  How much time is between the two shots of the vaccine?  Have there been any negative reactions from the vaccine locally? CITY OF SALEM, MASSACHUSETTS Kimberley Driscoll Mayor Neighborhood Improvement Advisory Council Wednesday, February 10, 2021, 7:00 p.m. Pursuant to Governor Baker’s March 12, 2020 Order Suspending Certain Provisions of the Open Meeting Law, G.L. c. 30A, §20, and the Governor’s March 15, 2020 Order imposing strict limitation on the number of people that may gather in one place, this meeting of the Neighborhood Improvement Advisory Council will be conducted via remote participation to the greatest extent possible. Specific information and the general guidelines for remote participation by members of the public and/or parties with a right and/or requirement to attend this meeting can be found on the city’s website, at www.salem.com.
