CITY OF SALEM, MASSACHUSETTS Kimberley Driscoll Mayor Salem Youth Commission July 11th, 2016 5:00pm 120 Washington Street –3rd Floor Minutes Attendees: Samuel Hoang, Nick Angeramo, Michael Quigley, Jacob McGrath, Collin McLean Salem Youth Commission (SYC) members began their meeting at 5:00pm with introductions and announcements. Minutes from the 6/27/2016 meeting were not available however will be reviewed and approved along with minutes from 7/11/2016 at the meeting on 7/25/2010. SYC had questions regarding the difference between a voting and non- voting commissioner and wondered if non-voting members could run for office; ie. Chair, Vice Chair and Scribe. Youth Survey- Youth commissioners agreed that there should be a few more questions to be added to the survey they will be conducting. They agreed upon the survey questions that were presented and will review second draft of the questions at the next meeting on 7/25/2016. There were question on method of distribution of the surveys and how they will be collecting, analyzing the data and how they will use it to be able to run meaningful activities in their given schools and around the city. There was a suggestion to conduct the surveys at a youth led health resource fair. SYC members at the time did not have many ideas on who they’d like to invite to have as a guest speaker but will bring their suggestions to the next meeting.
