CITY OF SALEM, MASSACHUSETTS Kimberley Driscoll Mayor Salem Youth Commission Meeting Minutes October 17, 2016 Attendance: Ruby Cheresnowsky, Aiyanna Lilly, Samuel Hoang, Laura Assade, Nick Angeramo, Collin McLean, Felicia Pierce, Michael Quigley, Jared Lubas Meeting Called to Order The meeting called to order at 6:12pm Introductions & Public Comments: Introductions were made by all Youth Commissioners. No Public Comments Previous Meeting Minutes: Nick made a motion to approve September meeting minutes, Michael second the motion. Minutes were approved. Youth Survey: Commissioners shared challenges in getting responses from school administrators as the beginning of the school year was presumably hectic. Other surveys are being conducted in the schools which can seem a bit overwhelming. Commissioners suggested leaving the survey open and that they should all continue to work to get as many youth to take it. Everyone agreed that the survey should be left open until further notice. In addition, survey will be put up on youth build site. So far the survey results read that the top two projects that need to be worked on are Substance abuse and Prevention amongst young adults and Conduct more fun activities. Membership & New Business: Members had an opportunity to vote for Chair, Vice Chair & Scribe. Commissioners also decided which subcommittees they’d like to join.
