CITY OF SALEM, MASSACHUSETTS Kimberley Driscoll Mayor Salem Youth Commission Meeting Minutes April 19, 2017 Attendance: Jared Lubas, Laura Assade, Nick Angeramo, Naccia Whittaker, Felicia Pierce, Michael Quigley Meeting Called to Order The meeting called to order at 10:15am Introductions & Public Comments: There were announcements of the new community space in the point neighborhood- Espacio, also discussed the opportunity for Youth commissioners to participate in the Youth Get to the point day. Previous Meeting Minutes: There was not a quorum at the meeting on this day we were not able to vote on March meeting minutes. Student Government Day: Youth commissioners provided feedback on Student Government day. There were suggestions on having a better script for the mock trail, Transition time, and clearer explanation to help both the youth and representative understand how the day will go. Not all councilors were able to participate, youth showed interest in having as many councilors participate as possible. Lastly members thought that a survey could have been given out at the end of the mock trail. Over all members thought it was a great day and are looking forward to planning it again. Old/New Business: Youth Dialogue Paid Training- commissioners who were present were given an opportunity to find out additional details regarding the Training opportunity. They were given dates and have been emailed the application which is Due May 1. Commissioners were advised that applications will begin to be accepted after May 1st and any 10th or 11th grader is encouraged to apply.
