Scholarship & Education Committee Meeting – Draft Minutes Monday, May 10, 2021, 6:30 P.M., meeting held remotely Members Present: Tyler Carlton, Elizabeth McGovern, Lynne Mullen, Amy Stewart, Tayla Thompson, Greg MacPhee, Andrew Boucher Staff Present: Dominick Pangallo 1. Call to Order: 6:31 p.m. 2. Approval of April 12, 2021 and April 28, 2021 minutes: Amy moved to approve, Greg seconded. Minutes approved 4-0-3 as members absent from either of the meetings abstained. 3. Financial Updates: Dominick shared that the Scholarship Fund took in $814.89 in April and has a balance of $6,052.69. The Education Fund took in $467.20 in May and has a balance of $13,754.75. 4. Old Business a. Fundraising Updates: Tyler reported that he has not received any response to the Committee’s bank grant applications and will reapply for them this month. 5. New Business a. Review of Scholarship Fund applications: Ten applications have been received: nine online and one by mail. Liz asked if the committee would be considering need, merit, or a combination thereof. Amy stated she would prefer to wait to see the applications before making that determination. Liz indicated she would be absent from the June meeting and Tyler offered to share her feedback with the committee when they met to review the applications. b. Review of Education Fund grant applications: None. 6. Adjourned: 6:37 p.m. Next Regular Meeting: Monday, June 14th , 6:30 p.m., location TBD

CITY OF SALEM, MASSACHUSETTS Kimberley Driscoll Mayor Scholarship & Education Committee Monday, May 10, 2021 6:30 p.m. Pursuant to Governor Baker’s March 12, 2020 Order Suspending Certain Provisions of the Open Meeting Law, G.L. c. 30A, §20, and the Governor’s March 15, 2020 Order imposing strict limitation on the number of people that may gather in one place, this meeting of the Salem Scholarship & Education Committee will be conducted via remote participation to the greatest extent possible. Specific information and the general guidelines for remote participation by members of the public and/or parties with a right and/or requirement to attend this meeting can be found on the city’s website, at www.salem.com. If any public comment is permitted, members of the public who have “raised their hand” in Zoom will be called on by the chair to offer comment. In order to raise a hand, member of the public using the Zoom computer or phone application may click the “Raise Hand” button; members of the public dialing in may press “*9” to raise their hand to speak. No in-person attendance of members of the public will be permitted, but every effort will be made to ensure that the public can adequately access the proceedings in real time, via technological means. In the event that we are unable to do so, despite best efforts, we will post on the city’s website an audio or video recording, transcript, or other comprehensive record of proceedings as soon as possible after the meeting.
