Monday, March 11, 2024, 6:30 P.M., meeting held remotely
Members Present: Andrew Boucher, Yamilis Cruz, Elizabeth McGovern, Lynne Mullen, Timothy
Norton, Gabriel Yeager

1. Call to Order: 6:33 p.m.
2. Approval of February 12, 2024 minutes: Minutes approved 5-1-0.
3. Financial Updates:
Education Fund Scholarship Fund

4. Old Business:
▪ This month, the committee has received 0 Education Fund applications and 0 Scholarship
Fund applications
▪ A discussion on Education Fund Applications continued from the last meeting
• Gabriel and Lynne will plan to create graphics that can be shared on social media
• All members agreed to forward the scholarship application to contacts at the
various area high schools that have Salem residents as students
▪ Gabriel introduced a rubric for scholarship applications that he created, Andrew
expressed that he really likes this rubric
▪ For the Education Fund (rubric)
o One measure worth capturing will be whether they have been a recipient of
funding from this source in the past
o Gabriel will create a rubric for the Education Fund
5. New Business
• Fundraising goal setting
▪ A request was made for an update on how many scholarships were given
out in the past year
▪ Tim: requests how much was given out each year, and how many
scholarships were given out each year?
▪ Liz: will sing karaoke to raise money for the fund
▪ Discussion about how to distinguish the difference between Salem
Education Foundation and the Scholarship and Education Fund
▪ Table discussion until the next meeting when there is data
▪ Tim: Continuing to work toward fundraising initiative with the Derby (and
others) - $0 cost to the Committee
• Introducing Sarah Roy – The City of Salem’s Director of Salem Children’s
Alliance
▪ Sarah can help spread the word about the Committee’s initiatives
