Maybe 6:30? Update on Solar Project at Bentley and Witchcraft Heights  Solar Installation on Schools City has been working with Endless Energy and Footprint Power to work out details on solar arrays on Witchcraft Heights and the Bentley School. FMI Roofing and KVA architects have been retained to do the architectural analysis and roof replacement before the panels will be installed. As portions of the roof are completed, Endless Energy will install panels. The goal is to have 50% of the project done by Jan. 8th so we can be eligible for the SREC II program.  Wind Turbine research info Jeff Snell presented the Task Force with current available wind turbine manufacturers that would best fit the feasible Winter Island site. The idea would be to use the 2010 feasibility study data with a newer wind turbine manufacturer such as a GE 1.85 MW turbine. GE 1.85 MW – same size as the 1.5MW GE turbine used in the 2010 study but more efficient with a different blade pitch that adjusts based on wind speed and direction. - American made - Tower height of 80m or 65m (260ft) and has a cold weather package to operate in the winter - 82.5m rotor diameter Vestas Turbine – Holland company, manufactured in Colorado - 90m rotor diameter - 120m tower height Tom Michaelson of Borreal Consultants to run the data with these turbines Jeff Snell introduced the idea of erecting a 50m MET tower on one of the granite ledge islands to collect 12 months of wind data to see the viability of off-shore/harbor wind and take advantage of these granite ledge islands to build a wind farm network. For example, only 6-8 wind turbines would produce 100% of Salem’s electricity consumption. Open Discussion – Green Communities Grant 2017 City will apply for DOER Green Communities grant in March 2017. Will target LED exterior and interior lighting in various schools for bulk of grant money. Coastal Resiliency CZM Grant 2017 City has been awarded a $75,000 grant to continue coastal resiliency work on Collins Cove. This grant round will focus on final design and permitting, building from last year’s Green Infrastructure Coastal Resiliency grant. By the end of the project the goal is to have all the local and state permitting completed so the City can do a coastal green infrastructure project in 2018 in Collins Cove.
