Meeting Minutes – Final June 15, 2017 7:00 PM 120 Washington Street, 3rd Floor Attendance: Jenna Ide (staff), Jeff Cohen, John Hayes, Rick Nye, Jeff Barz-Snell Not in attendance: Gail Kubik, Chrissy Kobyljanec, Matt Rusteika In attendance: Ashley Green, city’s Conservation Agent and city planner 1. Review Meeting Minutes: May 4, 2017. Minutes were approved unanimously. 2. Proposed New Name and Mission Statement: Further discussion of the mission statement and proposed new name for the RETF. We reached a consensus in May on two possible names [Sustainability and Resiliency Committee, and Sustainability, Energy and Resiliency Committee]; these and the mission statement have been given to the Mayor by Jenna. We await to learn of the decision by the Mayor. 3. RETF Goals - Finalization and Next Steps: See separate handout of a Draft [dated June 2017] of the possible 2017-2018 goals for the RETF. This draft document was discussed at length. 4. Open Discussion, New Business, Project Updates: A. Jenna updated us on the solar PV projects at the Witchcraft and Bentley schools. Phase 1 is done for Witchcraft; now awaiting approval from National Grid. Phase 2 - roof assessment was approved. A leak was discovered affecting approximately 35% of the roof. Cost estimate to replace the damaged roof: $400,000. B. Jenna updated us on the city’s promotion of the MassSAVE program. The Mayor would prefer to promote more than one company. C. Jenna updated us on net metering meetings that have been occurring. The Mayor and the RETF are encouraging our state legislators to raise the net metering cap. D. Jenna updated us on the Bertram Field and Forest River Park projects. The city aspires to obtain LEED Gold certifications for the new buildings of each project. E. We discussed holding an Open House once our new name is approved by the City Council. It would be a “Rebranding” event with refreshments.
