Meeting Minutes - Final October 23, 2019 – 6:30pm City Hall Annex – 98 Washington Street In Attendance: Jeff Cohen, Chris Cantone, Phil Koch, Rick Nye, Brittany Dolan (staff), Jenna Ide (staff) Not in Attendance: Gail Kubik, John Hayes, Lisa Peterson Public: Esmeralda Bisono (Community Solar Coach) 1. Introductions 2. Public Comment o Jenna Ide – Project Updates  We now have a fundraising website for Bertram Field so hopefully we will get some donations from the community. This project is a go. The bids went out and the deadline is December 5th. We are working with MassCEC to get rebates for the air-source heat pumps that will go in the new facilities. The new facilities should be up and running by September 2020. It will be one of the first Sustainable SITES.  Forest River – We are working on getting the proposal for the next phase and we are targeting net-zero energy. We are also looking to restore the shoreline there.  Salerno – This project is almost done. It should be done before the end of the year.  Willows – We are moving into the next phase of this and applying for an MVP grant for this project. We are reassessing some parts of the project after the storm happened last week.  MVP Designation – We are finishing up analyzing the data from the initial meeting in June and are preparing to do a larger community meeting on this in the future. 3. Review & Approve Meeting Minutes o Chris Cantone motioned to approve the minutes with edits to Brittany by Friday morning. Rick Nye seconded. o Vote passed unanimously. 4. Resolution in support of Rep. Jennifer Benson’s Bill (H2810) An Act to Reduce Greenhouse Gases and Promote Green Infrastructure  Jeff Cohen – This resolution supports this specific bill that has over 100 co- sponsors at this point. It would result in $2-3 million a year coming into Salem for  energy efficiency and resiliency projects. There are also accommodations for low-income people. Lisa Peterson has submitted this to the City Council and it will be presented tomorrow at the council meeting. There are many Salem community members that support this.  Jenna Ide – If this passes and Salem gets this money, we should prioritize what we need as a City to become more sustainable and resilient. 5. Finalize Resiliency FAQ o This will be moved to a future meeting. 6. Solarize Mass Plus Updates o Esmeralda Bisono –We are currently planning our upcoming events listed below.  November 7th - 7-9pm, Meet the Installers, Lifesaving Station, Nahant  November 12th – 6:30-8:30pm, Energy Fair, Swampscott High School  December 9th – 6-8pm, Meet the Installers, Community Life Center, 401 Bridge St. o Jenna Ide – We should have a booth set-up at the football games. We should start going to neighborhood meetings as well. o Jeff Cohen will reach out to SATV to see if they can record the 12/9 event. 7. Upcoming Events o Reimagining Salem: From Fossil Fuels to a Green Future  November 18, 5:45-8:30 pm, Community Life Center, 401 Bridge St. 8. Next Meeting – Wednesday November 27, 2019 at 6:30pm o Note: This date is the night before Thanksgiving. o Proposal: Move this meeting to November 20, 2019 at 6:30pm.  Rick Nye motioned that the meeting be moved to November 20, 2019.
