PUBLIC COMMENT
Received public comment from the following members of the public.
Leo De La Rosa stated he would like to see a City Manager who is a hard working,
someone who can oversee all the departments, communicate well with employees and
the public alike and improve staff morale up. He added that he would like to also see an
increase in businesses and sales tax revenue.
Jose Guerra stated that a good City Manager must look at all areas of the City that are in
need of attention. He added that there are ongoing issue in Monte Bella specifically
around parking, unauthorized use of the park, and park maintenance. He noted that a
good City Manager is someone who is willing to work together with everyone to address
the community's needs and further recommended that the City Council work
collaboratively as team.
Sal Jimenez stated that although the City Manager recruitment process is not an easy
process, it is important to look at all the needs of the community including
demographics. He added that Salinas has a lot of needs, including strengthening the
police department to address the drug issues throughout the city. Mr. Jimenez stated
that he would like to see someone who can make tough decisions and willing to receive
feedback from the community. He added that Salinas is a good community and it is

important to respect ones views and agree to disagree, hire the right person and regain
the confidence of the community.
Gloria De La Rosa stated she would like to see a City Manager with integrity,
communication skills, flexibility to meet with the community and listen to the community
needs.
CLOSED SESSION
The City Council recessed to closed session at 5:10 p.m. pursuant to:
a. Public Employee Appointment - California Government Code Section 54957(b)(1), City
Manager.
PUBLIC DISCLOSURE
Pursuant to California Government Code Section 54957.1, there was no reportable action
on the closed session matter.
ADJOURNMENT
