The motion carried the following vote: Ayes: 5- Commissioner Chaidez, Commissioner Martinez, Commissioner Tafoya, Commissioner Gutierrez and Commissioner Camacho Abstain: 2- Commissioner De La Rosa and Fong CONSIDERATIONS ID#23-568 Hebbron Family Center Schematic Design and Costing Director of Library and Community Services, Kristan Lundquist, presented the Hebbron Family Center Schematic Design and Costing to the commission. Director Lundquist showcased the proposed site plan, floor plan, and exterior view of the facility. The costing of this project is as below: Hard Cost: $11.88 million Soft Cost: $2.16 million Total Project Cost: $14.04 million City of Salinas Page 1 Library and Community Services Meeting Minutes - Final September 13, 2023 Commission Commissioners expressed interest in expanding the use of the facility through green spaces, rooftop gardens, and local artists used for the proposed mural spaces. Recommend to the City Council to receive and accept the completion of the schematic design phase and cost analysis for the new Hebbron Family Center. The recommendation took the following vote: Ayes: 7- Commissioner Chaidez, Commissioner Martinez, Commissioner Tafoya, Commissioner Gutierrez, Commissioner Camacho, Commissioner De La Rosa and Fong COMMISSIONERS' REPORT Commissioner Tafoya requested for the following to be noted: It has been five years since my last ride along experience. I reached out to the Salinas Police Department over a month ago to express my interest in participating in a ride along opportunity. I have followed up with this request twice since then. While I understand the department may be facing some staffing challenges, it is disheartening to not have received any response during this time. I believe that a prompt acknowledgement of such requests is only fair and respectful. Commissioner Martinez requested to schedule a film committee meeting. DIRECTOR'S REPORT Director Lundquist notified the commission of the departure of Library and Community Services staff Trish Meraz and Mila Rianto. Director Lundquist announced the Movie in the Park at Natividad Creek Park. CONSIDERATIONS ID#23-568 Hebbron Family Center Schematic Design and Costing Recommendation: Receive and recommend to the City Council to accept the completion of the schematic design phase and cost analysis for the new Hebbron Family Center.
