CONSENT ID#20-356 Minutes Upon motion by Committee Member Ortega, second by Committee Member Cervantes. The minutes of July 29, 2020 were approved. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: 6- Leopoldo De La Rosa, Yolanda Cervantes, Kimbley Craig, Angie Ortega, Daniel Ordaz and Diana Garcia City of Salinas Page 1 Police Community Advisory Meeting Minutes - Final August 26, 2020 Committee ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS ID#20-357 Chief’s Report Chief Adele Fresé gave an opening welcome and presented on “Looking Glass Self/What do others say about Salinas?” Commander John Murray spoke about the departments name change to Police Service of Salinas and why. This is a universal representation of everyone and what we do. This change received national attention. Assistant Chief Roberto Filice gave a presentation on drones and its many uses, such as rescue, pursuits, tactical operations, security and safety. Sergeant Chris Lane presented on Internal Affairs, its purpose, function, complaint procedures and outcomes. Sergeant Gerry Magana and Officer David Pritt discussed what the Violence Suppression Task Force team consists of and who they collaborate with. Detective Derek Gibson presented on the Auto Theft Task Force and who the team consists of. He also gave stolen vehicle statistics. Officer Gabriel Carvey presented on the Homeless Outreach Team and the collaborative efforts in providing resources to the homeless. Also talked about the Family Reunification Program. In accordance with Executive Order N-29-20, the public may only view the meeting on television and/or online and not in the Council Chamber.
