The Regular Meeting of the San Marcos Main Street Advisory Board January 17, 2018 Main Street Program Office – 317 N. LBJ Dr. 5:30 P.M. Vision Statement "To foster a downtown that is a unique and culturally vibrant destination, where local businesses thrive and people of all ages can connect, create and celebrate". Minutes 1. Call to Order 5:30pm 2. Roll Call: Debbie, Linda, Caitlyn, Chris, Sara Lee, Kelly, Jean, Kevin 3. Citizen Comment Period 4. Consider Approval of Minutes of November 2017 Meeting - Linda motions to approve, Chris seconds, motion passes 5. Standing Reports:  Engineering  Parking Manager/Patrol Report  CVB - results of GSMP river tourism study 6. Chairman’s Discussions  Sights and Sounds - report + discussion  Remembering Kelly Franks o Ideas discussed: picket at Playscape, engraved bench, engraved bench for sidewalk, Biscuit Day w/proclamation, Kelly Franks Award at annual Downtown Awards 7. Committee Reports Promotion Committee Chair – Jean Baggett Meeting Time – 2nd Wednesday at 10am Work Plan Items -  Strengthen new and existing events through collaboration and promotion o Kissing Alley Mailbox open  Wayfinding signage needed o Wine & Wassail Recap o Cottage Kitchen Recap o Trail Riders - volunteers needed! Sign up here.  Evaluate and expand online and offline promotional strategies appropriately o Banners - Jean to bring research and pricing to next board meeting  Target outlet and river tourists through online ads and pedestrian wayfinding Design Committee Chair – Caitlyn Strickland Meeting Time – 2nd Thur at 10am Work Plan Items -  Identify funding options to create a permanent pedestrian mall in Kissing Alley o Grant submission - Burditt Consultants o Increased inquiries for event rental  Create a sense of place through aesthetically pleasing and functional amenities and lighting o Grant submissions - LCRA, Cigarette Recycling through Keep America Beautiful o New dog waste stations installed  Encourage and support historic and cultural preservation efforts Organization Committee Chair – Linda Coker Meeting Time – 3rd Monday at 11am Work Plan Items -  Recognize Downtown businesses through monthly Business of the Month award and annual Downtown Awards o Vote on February’s Business of the Month  KnDs - Jean motions, Kelly seconds, motion passes  Engage and recruit volunteers, local organizations and downtown businesses to support Downtown beautification efforts and programming o Goal for 2017 met - 4000 volunteer hours logged  Advocate for Downtown and report on success to the public Economic Vitality Committee Chair – Kayli Head Meeting Time – 3rd Tuesday at 9am Work Plan Items -  Nurture the creative community as an economic driver for Downtown  Support, promote and educate on alternative transportation efforts Downtown  Create and promote resources available to Downtown stakeholders, entrepreneurs and potential investors  Sales Tax Report 8. City Council Report 9. Expenditure Report and Program report from Main Street 10. Updates and announcements from Board members 11.
