Community Services Parks and Recreations Department Youth Services Commission on Children and Youth January 6, 2016 Agenda # Action or Direction 1 Call to Order The meeting was called to order at _12:05____ p.m., by Daniel Guerrero , Chairman. 2 Roll Call Present: Rodney Cobb, Michelle Harper, Michelle Hamilton, Laura Hernandez, Brad Russell, Victor Garza, Daniel Guerrero, Billy Stokes, Jeff Baergen, Nicole Dray Absent: Stacey Shackleford, Suad Hooper, Marty Nelson, Kim Porterfield-excused, Stephen Sundquist- excused 3 Citizen Comment Period – (each individual will be limited to 3 No Comments made at this time. minutes; no specific action may be taken on these items) 4 Approval of the minutes: November Michelle Hamilton motioned to approve the minutes 18, 2015 meeting from the November 18, 2015 meeting. Brad Russell seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Discussion-Subcommittee Updates a) Michelle Hamilton explained to staff that the 5 a. Data Collection and Assessment + proposal for the Education & Research Center Systems and Policy Review would be resubmitted focusing on Early childhood. b. Resource Mapping c. Youth Commission Steering A presentation for Early Childhood in this area d. Strategic Planning was scheduled for the following meeting. b) Will be reporting next meeting with a list that provides agencies and organizations with the resources they provide. They are scheduled for a presentation in March. c) Rodney Cobb mentioned that Youth should begin 5 to be appointed to boards and commissions. He 1 Community Services Parks and Recreations Department Youth Services Commission on Children and Youth January 6, 2016 Continued explained that the Parks Board has 3 vacancies, 1 that can be reappointed and 2 that are possibilities for youth. Michelle Harper motioned that more youth applicants should be considered for the Parks Advisory Board. Brad Russell seconded this motion. The motion passed unanimously. d) Update for Strategic Planning will come in the March Meeting. 6 Jessica Ramos informed staff that there are no Discussion and/or Recommendation- applicants at this time and the deadline for this Funding Application Update application is February 2, 2016 7 Discussion and /or Recommendation- Daniel Guerrero mentioned that he would Presentation to Council recommend to Tammy Cook that the presentation be the second meeting in February -February 16, 2016 and that Michelle Hamilton would present. 8 Items mentioned were: Discussion and /or Recommendation-  Data Collection Presentation Agenda items for next Meeting  Youth Commission Presentation  Presentation for Council February 16, 2016 Presentation  Vetting Committee  Preliminary Presentation 10 Adjournment Daniel Guerrero Adjourned the meeting at 12:54 p.m. 2
