Community Services San Marcos Activity Center Parks and Recreation 501 E. Hopkins Youth Services San Marcos, Texas 78666 Commission on Children and Youth 12:00 P.M. Regular Meeting Wednesday, March 2, 2016 I. Call to Order Daniel Guerrero called the meeting to order at 12:07 p.m. II. Roll Call Members present: Nicole Dray, Michelle Hamilton, Laura Hernandez, Stacey Shackleford, Brad Russell, Victor Garza, Daniel Guerrero, Suad Hooper, Billy Stokes, Stephen Sundquist, Jeff Baergen Members Absent: Michelle Harper, Marty Nelson, Kim Porterfield, III. Citizen Comment Period – (each individual will be limited to 3 minutes; no specific action may be taken on these items) No comments were made at this time. IV. Approval of the minutes- February 3, 2016 meeting Stephen Sundquist motioned to approve the minutes from the February meeting. Michelle Hamilton seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. V. Old Business- Presentation for Council- Michelle Hamilton Michelle Hamilton presented to the board the presentation that will be shown to Council on March 15, 2016.The presentation explained the 6 areas of priority the board has. VI. New Business- Application Review for Youth Funding Daniel Guerrero explained to the board that the current amount available for funding for the 2016 year was $71,037.36. He explained that $7,000.00 was allocated for Community Action, $2,500.00 was allocated was for food and supplies for the meetings. He later mentioned that an additional $3,000.00 was also allocated for another source. Daniel further explained that there was also roll over funds from 2015 that had not be used that totaling $69, 714.00. Daniel Guerrero motioned to only approve the applications that had been reviewed by the subcommittee for this afternoon, the reviewing committee would then review the other applications and have them come back to the board for a vote at a later time. Michelle Hamilton seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Daniel Guerrero motioned to take these applications as a group and not individually. Michelle Hamilton seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. 1 The applications that were approved consisted of: CASA of Central Texas, Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas, Girls Empowerment Network, San Marcos Housing Authority, and Texas State University. The applications that would still be under review would consist of: San Marcos CISD, HCWC, School Fuel, YSB and United Way. VII. Discussion and/or Recommendation – Agenda items for next meeting Update on applications under review. No other items were discussed at this time. VIII. Question and Answers with Press and Public No comments were made at this time. IX. Adjournment Daniel Guerrero adjourned the meeting at 12:47 p.m. 2
