City Council Meeting Minutes November 6, 2018
Mike Applegarth informed the Council of the upcoming tour scheduled for next week's
Council meeting. He noted that there were problems with the audio in the Chambers.
Council Member Business
Council Member Kris Nicholl shared an update on the Hale Center Theater Board
meeting. She reported on a meeting she attended regarding Quail Hollow Park.
Council Member Chris McCandless shared an update on the Central Wasatch
Commission.
Council Member Brooke Christensen reminded the Council of the open house for Sandy
Museum's 31 years on November 8, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Museum.
Council Member Linda Martinez Saville shared an update on the Healthy Sandy Summit
Meeting.
Council Member Zach Robinson shared an update on the Utah Clean Cities 25th
Anniversary Event. Sandy City was recognized for their "no idle" ordinance. He
presented the award to Mayor Bradburn.
Steve Fairbanks asked what the driving interest was to suddenly bring to the forefront the
development of the Quail Hollow Park. He questioned if residents were aware that funding
is unavailable at this time.
Kris Nicholl explained the funding and noticing of the meetings.
Mayor Bradburn noted that Quail Hollow Park meetings came to the forefront because
hundreds of neighbors were asking about the status of the property.
Mayor's Report
Mayor Bradburn reported that the City is helping raise funds for the Sandy Boys and Girls
Club through "No Shave November". The Club will be highlighted all month long in the City
newsletter.
CAO Report
No Report.
Legislative Report
Evelyn Everton asked the City Council members to let her know if they have any issues
or funding requests they would like her to work on during the upcoming Legislative
Session.
Citizen Comments
Wendy Lems approached the Council regarding an e-mail she sent requesting the help of
the City Council to post a "blind child" sign in her neighborhood to help curb speeding
along Dimple Dell Road.

Steve Van Maren spoke regarding the Council's role to uphold City policy and codes
pertaining to organization of the City, along with bringing back the budget transfer that
would hold funding for two CAO positions until the Administration presents their plan to
the City Council.

Jared Gerber introduced Bob Peterson, Director of Operations, STR Helper, who
presented an overview on the process used to provide compliance for short term rental
licensing.

Nick Duerksen introduced Jason Burningham who presented the Redevelopment

Brian McCuistion introduced the annexation of the Willow Creek Country Club.
Chairman Fairbanks opened the Public Hearing.
Cindy Sharkey, 8893 Willow Green Drive, recognized Tim Shumway for his efforts in
gathering signatures and influencing the annexation. She expressed appreciation to
Mayor Bradburn. She also expressed appreciation to Korban Lee for his help with the
annexation and representing the City. Upon Korban Lee's departure from the City, she
stated, "I don't know what we will do without him". He will be missed.

Tim Shumway, Willow Creek Drive, stated that he looks forward to annexing into Sandy.
As there were no further comments, the public hearing was closed.
Council questions followed.
A motion was made by Kristin Coleman-Nicholl, seconded by Linda Martinez
Saville, to adopt Ordinance 18-35 annexing territory located at approximately
8214 South to 8506 South Willow Creek Drive, 2550 East to 2570 East Robidoux
Road, and 8300 South Etienne Way in Salt Lake County, comprising
approximately 176.3 acres, into Sandy City; establishing zoning for the annexed
properties; also providing a severance and effective date for the annexation....
The motion carried by the following vote:

Adjournment
Council Member Linda Saville commented on how much Korban Lee and Shane Pace will
be missed.
The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:10 p.m. by Council Member Linda Martinez
Saville. The next scheduled meeting of the City Council is Tuesday, November 13, 2018
at 5:15 p.m.

case each speaker is allowed three minutes. The Citizen Comment sections of the meeting are for issues not listed
on the agenda. Each speaker is allowed three minutes to address the Council during Citizen Comments. If a citizen
is unable to attend a meeting in person, he or she may provide written comments to the City Council Executive
Director by 3:00 PM the day of the Council Meeting to have those comments distributed to the City Council and
