Attachments: Click here to eComment on this item Administrative Services Director Brian Kelley introduced Brian Parker, AECOM project manager. Brandon Liebst, Andrea Bohmholdt, and Nancy Cozzens from AECOM were also in attendance. AECOM has been retained to help inform future options for the Alta Canyon Sports Center. Brian Parker and the AECOM team inquired about the Council's overall goals for the Sports Center. Council Members shared their detailed perspectives on the future of the Sports Center including the need for community connection/building, construction renovations, financing options, program diversity, partnerships, and availability to all residents. She also introduced Council Office staff members, the City Recorder's Office, and County Clerk's Office Sherrie Swenson. Ms. Swenson also introduced Lannie Chapman and Michelle Blue from her office. Council Member Sharkey also introduced Stan Lockhart from Utah Ranked Choice Voting. Dustin Fratto framed the policy questions for the Council. Liz Theriault played an introductory video. Stan Lockhart proceeded with a presentation. Council comments and questions followed. A motion was made by Cyndi Sharkey, seconded by Zach Robinson, that this Motion to advance the attached draft resolution on Ranked Choice Voting forward for a second reading and possible adoption at the next business session... Sandy City, Utah Page 3 Printed on 4/21/2021 City Council Meeting Minutes April 13, 2021 Council Member Business Council Member Houseman reported on the reopening on the Sandy Senior. She also noted a constituent call regarding rapid response of the Police Department. She thanked Dan Medina and the Park team for some upcoming outdoor events. Council Member Christensen noted that the Historic Committee and CDBG committees will be meeting next week. Council Member Sharkey also spoke to the reopening of the Senior Center. She expressed concerns for Sandy businesses in light of the expiration of the mask mandate. Council Member Zoltanski welcomed back the Food Truck Night at the Sand Amphitheater on Monday nights. Mayor's Report CAO Report CAO Matt Huish noted that the Mayor continued the City facility mask policy for employees and guests. He noted that 5,000 of 8,300 street lights have been converted to LEDs. He noted that the City will be promoting water conservation this year. 10 of 20 bulk waste areas have been completed so far for the spring cleanup. There have been 225 violations so far. Public Works, Waste Management (WM), and Communications have been working together on a recycling outreach plan. Mike Gladbach added details about the outreach schedule, an FAQ sheet, newsletter updates, a letter from WM to residents, and social media links. Todd Asay reported on a safe, scaled-down observance of the Fourth of July.
