Work Session / Sesión de Trabajo Item a – Mayor's Remarks / Comentarios del Alcalde: Mayor Michael Garcia attended and shared the following: El Alcalde Michael Garcia asistió y compartió lo siguiente: • He is open to direct conversations and willing to host meetings at City Hall. Está disponible para conversaciones directas y dispuesto a recibir reuniones en el Ayuntamiento. • He is working on creating a Safety and Security Board. Está trabajando en establecer una Junta de Seguridad y Protección. • Clarified that the transition team was a short-term advisory group before taking office. Aclaró que el equipo de transición fue un grupo temporal de asesoría antes de asumir el cargo.  • Emphasized that data from speed cameras will not be shared with immigration enforcement. Matters from the Committee / Asuntos del Comité State Legislative Update / Actualización Legislativa Estatal – Presented by Marcela Díaz • The Immigrant Safety Act has been under consideration for the past four years. La Ley de Seguridad para Inmigrantes ha sido una propuesta legislativa durante los últimos cuatro años. • The State is considering banning the sale of personal data (e.g. license plates) to ICE and similar agencies. El estado está considerando prohibir la venta de datos personales (como placas de autos) a ICE y agencias similares. • A request is being made to the state for $7.6 million to expand legal services in rural areas.  Se está solicitando al estado $7.6 millones para ampliar los servicios legales en zonas rurales. • Workforce development efforts include helping immigrants validate foreign credentials. Subcommittee Updates / Actualizaciones de los Subcomités • The Subcommittee on Resources and Rapid Response is planning a “Know Your Rights” workshop in January.
